Avatar: The Last Airbender RPG In the Works with a Brand New Avatar

As a longtime fan who’s been through the trials and tribulations of the Fire Nation invasion, the Day of Black Sun, and the epic battle for Republic City, I must say, I’m both excited and apprehensive about the new Avatar: The Last Airbender AAA RPG.

In an exciting twist, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is being transformed into a high-end Role Playing Game (RPG). Unlike previous games where fans could play as Aang or Korra, this new game will introduce a never-before-seen Avatar character. Saber Interactive, in collaboration with Paramount Game Studios and the long-established Avatar Studios, is developing this game to expand the “Avatar” universe in innovative ways. However, a release date or even the year for this game has yet to be revealed.

Initially, IGN announced news about an upcoming “Avatar” game, and based on the information available, it appears that this game may not feature any of the traditional “Avatar” characters, unless they are historical figures. This is because the new “Avatar” game is set thousands of years in the past, so you likely won’t encounter characters like Aang, Katara, Sokka, or much related to cabbages in the game.

From the preliminary reports, it appears that the upcoming Avatar game will be developed for both consoles and PC platforms, marking the largest production in the series to date. Though Avatar has been featured in numerous games in the past, ranging from console and online titles to mobile and tabletop versions, as well as crossover games like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, this AAA RPG will be a first for the franchise.

Saber Interactive, the team behind the latest popular Warhammer title, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, has also developed Evil Dead: The Game and World War Z: Aftermath. They are currently developing Jurassic Park: Survival and publishing A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead. This studio is quite accustomed to collaborating with well-known intellectual properties.

At Saber Interactive, everyone deeply appreciates the intellectual properties they handle, according to Josh Austin, who leads IP development and licensing. Our team is filled with dedicated, enthusiastic creatives, and it’s a privilege to collaborate with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games in extending the universe of Avatar Legends in video games. This innovative shared funding model is a testament to our long-term collaboration with Paramount, which dates back more than a decade to World War Z, and we eagerly look forward to what lies ahead.

As of now, there’s no confirmed launch date for the upcoming Avatar game, and while it’s intended for console and PC, the precise platforms haven’t been explicitly disclosed.
