As a film enthusiast with a penchant for gripping mysteries and a soft spot for Harlan Coben adaptations, I can’t help but feel my heart racing at the sight of these captivating first-look images from “Missing You.” With a stellar cast including Rosalind Eleazar, Richard Armitage, Lenny Henry, Ashley Walters, and Jessica Plummer, among others, this series promises to be a thrilling ride.
Typically, Netflix viewers don’t have to wait much time for new Harlan Coben adaptations – and now, the streaming platform has revealed several first-glance images from the upcoming series inspired by his books.
2025 will bring an early arrival of “Missing You,” adapted from the 2014 book, featuring Rosalind Eleazar in the lead role, joined by several well-known British actors.
It’s not unexpected that regular collaborator Richard Armitage reappears after his roles in The Stranger, Stay Close, and Fool Me Once; this time, joining him are notable figures like Sir Lenny Henry, Ashley Walters, and Jessica Plummer, all of whom feature prominently in the initial images.
In this show, I’m fortunate to share the screen with notable figures like Steve Pemberton, Samantha Spiro, and James Nesbitt. There’s definitely no lack of stellar performances here!
The summary for this drama goes: “Eleven years ago, Detective Kat Donovan’s partner Josh, who was the love of her life, vanished without a trace, and she hasn’t heard from him since. One day, while browsing profiles on a dating app, she encounters his face again, causing her world to shatter anew.
When Josh comes back, she’ll be compelled to delve once more into the enigma of her father’s death and unearth forgotten truths hidden in her past.
Just like our previous adaptations of Coben’s works, the setting of this one has been shifted from the U.S. to the United Kingdom. Principal photography will occur in and around Manchester, as well as other regions in the North West of England.
In the past few years, it has become customary to premiere new Coben series on Netflix around the start of the new year. It’s speculated, though not yet officially confirmed, that Missing You will follow this trend and be released in that time frame.
2024 saw the unveiling of his latest series, “Fool Me Once,” on New Year’s Day, which became an enormous success on the streaming platform. Notably, it surpassed other popular shows like “Bridgerton” and “Baby Reindeer” to be crowned as the most-watched TV show on Netflix during the first half of 2024.
The drama featured stars such as Armitage, Michelle Keegan, Adeel Akhtar, and Joanna Lumley. It revolved around a woman who was struggling to cope after the gruesome murder of her husband, only for him to seemingly reappear unexpectedly at her home.
