New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto Promo Proves the Collab's Potential

As a lifelong gamer and anime enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming crossover between Naruto and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has me absolutely buzzing with excitement! It’s not every day we get to see such iconic characters collide in a way that makes perfect sense.

Believe it, boys and girls. Naruto is on the horizon in a way we have never seen before. Earlier this year, fans learned Naruto and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were coming together for a special collaboration. IDW Publishing and Viz Media is on the cusp of the crossover, and we just got a brand-new peek at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto. And yes, this one brings the one-and-only Kakashi center stage.

Below, you’ll find a sneak peek from ANN before the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto series starts next week (mid-November). This special preview shows Team 7 teaming up for a mission, with Kakashi taking the lead. As expected, April O’Niel, the reporter, is also involved, having successfully argued her case to the Hidden Leaf Village. Tsunade has requested Naruto’s crew to assist April in this endeavor.

The Intersection of Naruto and TMNT

As a thrilled fan, I’m excitedly sharing a sneak peek into the unique blend of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto that’s in the works! Caleb Goellner, who’s gained recognition with Sonic the Hedgehog, is penning the comic. Hendry Prasetya takes charge of the artwork, while Raul Angulo brings the pages to life through coloring. Ed Dukeshire is responsible for the lettering. IDW Publishing and Viz Media have gathered an exceptional team to create this comic, and this latest preview hints at a fantastic experience for fans like us!

Once more, we encounter Team 7 in person, now as genin. Naruto dons his recognizable orange attire, and Sasuke sticks with his typical blue-white style. Sakura, on the other hand, sports a stylish haircut that suggests we’ve moved beyond the Chunnin Exam storyline. Considering when this Team 7 mission takes place, it seems it unfolds right before Sasuke departs from the Hidden Leaf Village for Orochimaru, meaning their lives haven’t been thrown into turmoil just yet.

Give Us More Manga x Comic Collaborations

Under the leadership of a top-notch squad, the fusion of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto is the newest example of a manga-western comics crossover. This merging isn’t common, but it does happen occasionally. In the past, Marvel has successfully partnered with Attack on Titan, and manga has always been open to working with western intellectual properties.

Over time, numerous Marvel characters such as Wolverine, Deadpool, and Spider-Man have been given manga adaptations. Currently, Deadpool Samurai’s second season is garnering significant popularity for both Marvel and Shueisha. Meanwhile, DC Comics has ventured into the world of manga in the past. Joker One: Operation Joker, which depicts the Joker raising a young Batman, was well-received when it debuted a few years ago. Similarly, DC Comics has also produced titles like Superman Meshi and Batman: Justice Buster in the manga style. Now, IDW Publishing is following suit with their TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) adaptation.

Regarding future developments, we’ll simply have to wait and see. The manga industry is expanding rapidly, and its popularity in the U.S. has made it a top-selling category of graphic novels. The market is increasingly leaning towards manga due to reader preference, which means there’s more enthusiasm for crossovers between comics like Chainsaw Man and Spawn than ever before. So, keep an open mind – a fight between these two characters might become a reality someday!
