The tantalizing hints dropped by Xbox Era’s Nick Baker and the intriguing job listing at Firesprite have set my heart racing with anticipation.
The remake of Until Dawn by Ballistic Moon is coming out for PS5 and PC on October 4th, sparking speculation about a possible sequel. Since the title was leaked before its global release, some players caught glimpses of new scenes that suggest a continuation. However, this might not just be wishful thinking, as suggested by Xbox Era’s Nick Baker.
On Twitter, Baker expressed his frustration over not being allowed to share his insights about the upcoming sequel. He hinted that Firesprite, known for their work on Horizon Call of the Mountain for PlayStation VR2, seems to be involved in its development.
In an unexpected turn of events following PlayStation’s acquisition of Firesprite in 2021, a job listing for a narrative lead on a “triple-A narrative-driven horror-adventure game” appeared in 2022. Remarkably, this role seems tailor-made for the style of “Until Dawn.” However, it’s yet to be determined when this project might release.
Previously this year, Firesprite, similar to other first-party PlayStation studios, underwent layoffs. Additionally, there have been accusations of a hostile work environment after Sony’s restructuring, with reports of sexual discrimination, excessive overtime on Horizon Call of the Mountain, and further issues.
