All Creatures Great and Small’s Tristan returns – but there’s some disappointing news

As a devoted admirer of All Creatures Great and Small, who has eagerly followed the lives of Siegfried, Tristan, and their fellow villagers through every season, I must say that the return of Tristan Farnon has brought about a whirlwind of emotions. It’s been a long wait, but his safe arrival in Darrowby was a relief indeed.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t contain my excitement! At long last, the day has arrived that we’ve all been eagerly anticipating – the grand reappearance of the charismatic character, Tristan Farnon, in All Creatures Great and Small!

Tonight’s episode (Thursday 3rd October): Siegfried got a message from his brother saying he was on his way back from Cairo, having served with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps there, and expected to reach Darrowby soon.

But after his initial relief, Siegfried was concerned.

What made Siegfried’s younger sibling return home? The lack of information in the letter left Siegfried pondering with curiosity.

Had he been discharged due to a life-altering injury? Would their reunion be a happy one?

Luckily, everything seemed fine as they met up on the train station. Tristan returned safe and sound, maintaining his usual lively demeanor – a testament to his resilience, even though the effects of war were clearly visible, a subject that would be delved into in future instalments.

But it wasn’t quite the comeback that many of the All Creatures faithful will have been hoping for.

Tristan’s comeback doesn’t signify he’s no longer bound by military duties. Instead, he now teaches veteran recruits in Doncaster for three days a week, leaving him the rest of the time at his disposal. However, his upcoming path remains uncertain.

It’s possible that at some point, he might need to be reassigned, implying it’s likely that orders will be given for him to relocate, and this could potentially mean a return overseas.

As the conflict grows more fierce by the day, it’s hard to predict what unforeseen calamity might befall not only Tristan, but everyone residing in Darrowby as well.

All Creatures Great and Small’s Tristan returns – but there’s some disappointing news

Prior to the announcement of season 5 for “All Creatures”, there was some uncertainty about whether Callum Woodhouse would return to his role. However, he later confirmed that reprising his character as Tristan had been part of the original plan all along.

He expressed that it was delightful to have some time off for other tasks and then return home to his family, indeed. There was a hint of apprehension, wondering if things would feel strange or if he’d be out of the loop. However, his initial day back was spent entirely at The Drovers, which seems to be an ideal location for filming Tristan’s first scenes again.

Initially, we started our day and gradually got into the swing of things. After our midday break, I must admit, it seemed as though I hadn’t left at all when I returned.

I effortlessly fit right back into the familiar environment, sharing laughs and jests as if no time had passed, with my old cast and crew who are still here from the first season. It felt incredibly pleasant.
