As a long-time horror game enthusiast who can remember the chilling nights spent playing the original Until Dawn back in 2015, this news has sent a shiver of excitement down my spine! The remake of the game and the upcoming sequel have me eagerly awaiting sleepless nights once again.
It appears that Sony’s PlayStation is currently developing a follow-up to its 2015 horror game “Until Dawn.” In the past week, a remake of the same game has been launched for both PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. Prior to this, filming for a movie adaptation of the game started a few months ago. Given all the attention on the “Until Dawn” series lately, it looks like Sony is also planning to create a sequel.
The remake of “Until Dawn” is now out, and fresh clips of its ending suggest there’s more story ahead. Unlike the original release, the revised ending for “Until Dawn” has been exclusively added to the remake. While I won’t reveal any details, the remake introduces a new scene that lays the groundwork for potential future narratives in this universe.
According to insider Nick Baker, who recently spoke on X, he has learned that PlayStation studio Firesprite is currently developing a sequel to the game Until Dawn. Previously, job listings suggested that Firesprite was working on a horror game of some kind. Now, if Baker’s information is correct, it’s clear that this project is indeed Until Dawn 2.
It seems quite logical that Sony should develop a sequel to “Until Dawn” considering all the points mentioned earlier. As this series is slated to become a movie franchise in the future, Sony would likely aim to maximize its potential shift into a new medium by making it more popular than ever. Launching “Until Dawn” on PS5 and PC was just the beginning, with “Until Dawn 2” being a key priority for the long term. Whether this will significantly expand “Until Dawn’s” presence on PlayStation in the coming years is yet to be seen, but it’s evident that this revamped version won’t be the last of the franchise.
