Batman Ninja Vs. Yakuza League Hints at Major Villains’ Return

Batman Ninja Vs. Yakuza League Hints at Major Villains' Return

As a fan who has grown up with Batman and his ever-evolving world, I can’t help but feel excited about the upcoming sequel to the unique anime masterpiece that was Batman Ninja. Having witnessed the Joker and Harley Quinn’s anime debut in Batman Ninja and their subsequent antics in Suicide Squad Isekai, I’m eagerly awaiting their return in Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League.

The movie “Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League” serves as a follow-up to the 2018 anime film “Batman Ninja,” which marked the beginning of this series. In the first installment, Batman, or Bruce Wayne, was transported to feudal Japan and adapted his appearance for the challenges of that time. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just Batman who was sent back in time; several villains from his rogues gallery also received passage to feudal Japan. The sequel film finds Batman and his allies facing a significantly altered version of the Justice League. However, this doesn’t mean that the villains from Batman’s past won’t make an appearance in the upcoming movie.

In the animated film Batman Ninja, it’s safe to say that the Joker and Harley Quinn stood out as the most formidable foes. Dressed in attire suitable for feudal Japan, they were an unusual yet striking duo. Their unconventional looks didn’t just pose challenges for Batman during close-quarter fights; they also managed to pilot strange mechanical suits, causing additional trouble. In the end, the Joker, the King of Criminals, and his Queen Harley Quinn were overthrown. With victory in hand, Batman successfully returned everyone – friends and foes alike – back to their original time, bringing an end to this initial foray into anime adventures.

The Joker And Harley Quinn’s Anime Return

The reasoning behind why there is an evil, “Yakuza” version of the Justice League fighting against Batman and his sidekicks remains a mystery, though Harley Quinn and the Joker’s upcoming return might hint that they have a hand in the heroes switching sides. In revealing that the villainous duo will be a part of Batman Ninja Vs. Yakuza League, Warner Bros has released a new poster showing off the Joker and Harley’s new look for the sequel. While it might be tough to compete with evil iterations of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and the Flash, if anyone can do it, it’s Harley Quinn and Joker. For the upcoming film, Wataru Takagi and Rie Kugimiya will return to their roles for the sequel’s Japanese dub.

Harley Quinn and Joker’s Anime History

In addition to starring prominently in the animated film “Batman Ninja”, The Joker and Harley Quinn also took on crucial roles in another significant anime production titled “Suicide Squad Isekai”. In this latest series, Team Suicide Squad found themselves transported into a different world of Isekai, where characters like Harley, Peacemaker, Deadshot, King Shark, and Clayface were battling to stay alive within the anime environment. Although The Joker was often seen due to flashbacks, it turned out in the final episode of the first season that he had been disguising himself as various characters in order to provide Harley with an enjoyable experience by creating a fantastical world for her.

Although there hasn’t been official confirmation yet from Warner Bros. (WB) and Wit Studio about a second season of the “Suicide Squad Isekai”, it is known that WB has shown interest in increasing their investment in the anime industry. Similar to how Batman Ninja and Yakuza League have made a return to the anime medium, it’s possible that we might see more of the Joker and Harley Quinn causing mayhem there as well. However, it’s worth noting that they can also be found wreaking havoc in other formats too.

Joker 2: The Deadly Duo Hit The Silver Screen

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited about the latest flick, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” hitting the big screen now! Not only does it bring Joaquin Phoenix back as Arthur Fleck, but also introduces Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel. Though a third Joker movie might not be on the cards just yet, one thing’s for sure – we haven’t seen the last of the Joker and Harley Quinn in various forms!
