WWE’s Netflix Partnership Starts Early: Bad Blood Airing on Netflix in International Market

WWE's Netflix Partnership Starts Early: Bad Blood Airing on Netflix in International Market

As a lifelong WWE enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of sports entertainment since its inception, I can confidently say that this latest move by WWE to stream Monday Night Raw on Netflix is a game-changer. This shift from traditional cable television to streaming platforms marks a significant step forward in making WWE more accessible to a wider audience. The fact that Netflix is now hosting premium live events, starting with Bad Blood in Brazil, underscores their ambitious plans for the future.

In a groundbreaking move next year, WWE will transition its primary broadcast platform in company history. Starting January 2025, WWE Monday Night Raw will stream exclusively on Netflix, marking the first time this flagship show departs from traditional cable television after 30 years on air. This significant change comes with a hefty price tag, making it WWE’s most profitable TV deal to date – Netflix reportedly paid over $5 billion for a ten-year contract for WWE Monday Night Raw, with the option to extend another decade or end the agreement after five. Netflix executives harbor ambitious plans for WWE content, hinting at potential future hosting of premium live events.

Those premium live event hopes are beginning early in one international market.

This weekend, October 5th, Netflix in Brazil is broadcasting live the event “WWE Bad Blood.” At the moment, only Brazil is streaming this premium live event on Netflix. In the U.S., “WWE Bad Blood” will be available for streaming on Peacock, as the WWE continues its contract with NBCUniversal’s streamer until 2026.

As a gamer, I double-checked using a VPN and found out that I can catch WWE Bad Blood live on Netflix from the comfort of my home in Brazil this coming Saturday. However, when I tested other countries within South America, it didn’t show up when I searched for it like it did in Brazil.

Triple H stated earlier this year that it seems likely we’re moving the WWE fanbase to Netflix. He explained, “We have a long history of shifting locations and an overwhelming majority – about 95% – of our audience tends to go with us. I believe this change will be no exception.

Netflix VP of Nonfiction, Bandon Riegg, mentioned in February that their product is an excellent source of entertainment, offering something new every week for the entire year. This product has a fervent and devoted fanbase who are already Netflix members. The advantage lies in reaching a larger audience by introducing it to new fans while also catering to existing ones, whether they’re current Netflix subscribers or those who will join later on. Essentially, this move benefits either way, as we’re unsure of how much bigger the success can grow.

On Netflix, the premiere of “Monday Night Raw” by WWE takes place in January 2025. Meanwhile, “WWE Bad Blood” is scheduled for this coming Saturday, October 5th.
