The Witcher's Liam Hemsworth Reveals When Season 5 will Start filming

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for The Witcher series, I must say I’m thrilled about the upcoming seasons. The news that season 5 will start filming just months after season 4 wraps has me itching with anticipation. It feels like the creators are working overtime to keep us hooked!

Filming for The Witcher’s fourth season has begun, and although we have a bit of time before it airs on Netflix, the fifth season might not be too far behind. This is because filming for season 5 will commence shortly after season 4 wraps up, as revealed by Liam Hemsworth in a recent interview on Live with Kelly and Mark. Hemsworth shared that there would be a four-month break following the completion of season 4 filming in October, which suggests that production for season 5 will start in March of 2025 (as reported by What’s On Netflix).

The Road to Season 5

If the show manages to complete filming in October 2024, as planned, then the production of season 5 will commence immediately after, lasting for approximately eight months. This would mean that the entire series, including season 5, would wrap up filming in October 2025. Earlier this year, we learned that season 5 would be the last installment of The Witcher’s main series. Liam Hemsworth has been cast as Geralt for season 4, replacing Henry Cavill who starred in the first three seasons. From the set photos, it appears they will re-shoot significant scenes featuring Hemsworth to make it seem like he’s always played Geralt. We’ll find out how this change pans out when season 4 premieres.

Stepping Into the Role

Netflix recently unveiled a sneak peek of Hemsworth in his Geralt costume. In an interview with ComicBook during season 3, actors Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, and Joey Batey shared their thoughts on Hemsworth joining the series. “We’re thrilled! I can hardly wait for Liam to join us,” said Chalotra. “It will be strange, and I think we’ll all feel a sense of loss. Henry has been amazing and carried the show, so definitely going to miss him, but I’m really looking forward to what’s next.” Batey added, “We’re all excited, and we’ll certainly miss Henry a lot. Behind the scenes, he’s always been supportive, funny, and professional, setting the tone for the show.

Hey there fellow fan! I’m thrilled to share that Seasons 1 through 3 of The Witcher are now streaming on Netflix. As for the future, while we don’t have official release dates yet, Season 4 might grace our screens in 2025 and Season 5 could follow suit in 2026 if filming timelines remain consistent. Interestingly, just like Season 3, the final two seasons may be divided into chapters as well!
