It appears that Anne Hathaway has hinted at her participation in the upcoming third movie of the Princess Diaries series, as it’s now under production.
On October 4th, a video was shared on her Instagram profile by the Oscar winner. In this video, she alternated clips from their movie with herself and Julie Andrews. After some time, she playfully blew a kiss to the camera before uttering one of her famous character’s catchphrases: “Keep quiet!
Wonderful things occur,” the individual wrote in their post. “Returning to Genovia with @adeleblim, Disney, and @somewherepictures. The storybook journey persists.
This morning, TopMob News announced that the much-awaited Disney sequel has been given the green light. Adele Lim, who previously wrote ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ for the studio in 2021 and made her directorial debut with the 2023 comedy ‘Joy Ride’, will be directing the movie.
With unbridled enthusiasm as an ardent admirer of the original ‘Princess Diaries’, I’m thrilled to be involved in breathing life into the third chapter of this cherished series. Though Disney hasn’t announced the cast for the upcoming movie yet, Anne Hathaway has openly expressed her desire to return to the role that made her famous. She initially played this character in the 2001 film and later reprised it in the 2004 sequel titled “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement“.
In 2019, she shared on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen that there is indeed a script for the third movie. She expressed her desire, as well as Julie’s, to be part of it. Our producer, Debra Martin Chase, also wants it to happen, making everyone eager for this project to materialize.
And the actress offered fans another minor update on the threequel’s progress earlier this year.
