Watch: WWE Teases Motor City Machine Guns Debut on SmackDown

As a lifelong wrestling fan who has seen it all, from the Attitude Era to the modern-day spectacle that is WWE, I am beyond excited about the reported arrival of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, also known as the Motor City Machine Guns, to the world of WWE. Having followed their career since their TNA days, I can attest to their incredible in-ring chemistry and their status as one of the best tag teams in professional wrestling history.

Recently, several fresh talents have emerged in WWE, and it looks like two more are on their way. According to reports, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, formerly of Motor City Machine Guns, have allegedly joined WWE and are bound for NXT. However, a new teaser video shown tonight on SmackDown hints that they might be destined for the blue brand instead. Here’s the full video if you want to check it out.

The video features a car racing down a road in the rain and also shows two shadowed figures walking down the road. As the car speeds along we get a glimpse of a city and then some landmarks are quickly shown, and one of these sticks out quite a bit. That would be Detroit’s iconic monument to Joe Louis, also known as The Fist, which is located near Hart Plaza.

It was initially believed that this video hinted at the Motor City Machine Guns’ debut, but earlier rumors suggested they were bound for NXT. Although their appearance was anticipated during the recent Chicago premiere on The CW, they failed to appear on television or attend the event itself. Now it appears they are destined for SmackDown, leaving fans wondering when exactly they will make their first appearance.

Who Is MCMG?

Since their debut in 2006, the Motor City Machine Guns have established a reputation as one of the top Tag Teams across the wrestling industry. Shelley and Sabin have achieved significant victories as a duo, particularly during their tenures with TNA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Ring of Honor. However, they have truly shone in TNA, where they’ve been crowned multiple Champions. It’s worth noting that they’ve also had individual triumphs, with numerous Championship wins in single competition matches.

Most recently, they were with TNA, and at one point, Tony Khan showed interest in having them join AEW. However, it seemed they would end up with WWE instead, starting off in NXT alongside other notable signings like Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. But now, it appears that plan has changed and they are expected to make their debut on SmackDown quite soon.

It’s unlikely for that event to occur at Bad Blood, considering they’ve been teased on SmackDown. If someone emerges victorious in the upcoming Tag Team Championship Ladder match, it could be an ideal time for their debut, which might take place next week during the celebration. However, the Title match is scheduled for tonight.
