WWE’s Drew McIntyre Addresses Roxanne Perez’s Change of Heart on CM Punk (Exclusive)

WWE's Drew McIntyre Addresses Roxanne Perez's Change of Heart on CM Punk (Exclusive)

As a gamer who’s been around the block more times than I care to remember, I can’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction seeing Drew McIntyre finally standing tall against CM Punk. The feud between these two has been quite the rollercoaster ride, but it’s always been clear to me that Drew’s the good guy in this tale.

Drew McIntyre aims to end his rivalry with CM Punk permanently during their Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. Once this is accomplished, McIntyre is eager to focus on new goals. However, their feud has had some enjoyable instances for McIntyre, one being when NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez scolded Punk and expressed she should have been a fan of McIntyre instead. This is quite significant coming from someone who’s always admired Punk, and it certainly sparked a large reaction. McIntyre shared his thoughts on Perez’s change in loyalty towards Punk with ComicBook, expressing satisfaction that the nostalgia’s influence is waning.

Realizing The Truth

In response to being questioned about Perez’s change, McIntyre stated, “Growing up means recognizing Drew McIntyre as the good guy, proving I was correct all along. I’ve merely told the truth and fought for the people, particularly during the pandemic and right up until now. Nostalgia can be quite powerful. People become overly enthusiastic, especially when someone has been inactive for nine years and their fame stemmed from a single notable run and a memorable pipe bomb promo, and they’ve relied on that ever since.

McIntyre explained, “People are thrilled and shouting his name. Many watch him due to his controversy and excitement. He was the opposite of a typical star in those days, and many connected with him. It’s amusing that she finally met her idol. At first, it was exhilarating for her, but after spending less than a year with him – since he hasn’t returned for a year – she discovered his real character.

McIntyre admitted that he understands the truth can be painful, but is pleased that others are starting to see what he has been saying about Punk. If fans are chanting his name once more, he accepts it. He acknowledges that nostalgia is potent and eventually, they’ll come to realize their mistake. They will think, “I’m sorry, Drew,” but for those who have spent time with Punk like Roxanne has, they will see that he isn’t always present. Only when they encounter him will they understand he’s the villain. Some people may take longer to grasp this truth, and some fans might need more time as well. However, don’t worry; Drew will always be there for you. McIntyre remains compassionate despite the pain, continuing to fight for everyone, including our company and the fans, while Punk does not. He is a selfish person.
