Saoirse Ronan addresses Narnia casting rumours: “There isn’t no truth to it”

As a cinephile with a penchant for all things fantasy and a soft spot for Greta Gerwig’s directorial prowess, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity about her upcoming adaptations of C S Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia novels.

Since news broke about Greta Gerwig penning and directing adaptations of two books from C.S. Lewis’s “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, fans have eagerly sought out any tidbits of information they can find, particularly regarding the actors who will be part of the project.

As soon as it was announced, people started suggesting actors for the roles, particularly focusing on Saoirse Ronan, given her close working relationship with Gerwig.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress was questioned about the speculation that she might star in the Chronicles of Narnia series, and it seems there’s still a possibility!

Ronan answered: “I mean, there isn’t, like, no truth to it. She hasn’t asked me yet. She’s writing it.”

She added: “However, we’ve reached a stage where I simply inform her, ‘By the way, I’ll be here.’ She mulls it over and eventually agrees with a simple ‘OK’. As for Narnia, she hasn’t shown any interest in discussing it yet; I believe she’s fully engrossed in crafting it at the moment.

In the adaptation project, it’s not just Ronan who has been linked; Netflix has also clarified that Louis Partridge is not confirmed for any part, despite previous rumors suggesting otherwise.

Based on Ronan’s remarks that Gerwig is continuing to write the films, it seems we have some time left before any official updates are shared!

In an interview with Variety last year, Netflix’s former film head Scott Stuber commented on Greta Gerwig’s potential work with The Chronicles of Narnia: “Clearly, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the most well-known, but if you read all the books, there’s a really unique story structure to the series.

Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia will be streamable on Netflix starting from £4.99 per month. Additionally, Netflix can be accessed on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream as well.
