As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the hype surrounding Metaphor: ReFantazio has reached a crescendo. With its impressive Metascores and glowing reviews, it’s shaping up to be another masterpiece from Atlus. The Archetype system and adventure elements have caught my eye, and I can’t wait to dive into this fantastical world.
Reviews have gone live for Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio, and thus far, it looks like another winner for Atlus. At the time of writing on Opencritic, it scored a 91 out of 100, with 42 critics weighing in. The highest Metascore on Metacritic is currently 94 for the PS5 version, which has 28 reviews. However, it’s not far behind on PC and Xbox Series X/S with 91 and 92 Metascores.
Notable reviews such as IGN’s and GameSpot’s stand out. IGN bestowed a score of 9 out of 10, commending the Archetype system, adventure aspects, and overall theme. GameSpot, on the other hand, gave it an exceptional 10 out of 10, praising nearly everything (with a mention that some scenes could benefit from voice acting).
According to PC Gamer, they awarded a score of 95 out of 100, but mentioned some performance troubles in the initial city when played at maximum settings and a 200% rendering scale on PC. However, reducing the rendering scale to 150% significantly improved the experience. They recommended staying informed, particularly due to concerns arising from the latest demo.
Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on October 8th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
