As a passionate admirer of gripping crime thrillers, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming series “Under Salt Marsh” starring the incredibly talented Rafe Spall and Kelly Reilly. The story set in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, which seems to be as tense as a violin string between towering mountains and an encroaching sea, promises to deliver an emotional rollercoaster ride that I can hardly wait for.
Rafe Spall and Kelly Reilly, known for their roles in Yellowstone and Sky Atlantic respectively, will headline an upcoming tense crime drama airing on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
The story “Under Salt Marsh” unfolds in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, a closely-bonded settlement situated between colossal mountains and an advancing ocean that poses a grave danger to its survival.
“The summary hints: ‘A rare storm, unprecedented in a generation, starts brewing over the ocean. Jackie Ellis (Reilly), who used to be a detective but now teaches, finds the body of her eight-year-old student, Cefin, apparently drowned.’
This new finding resonates strongly within the community, rekindling memories of a long-unresolved mystery that once shook the town – the vanishing act of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, an event that ultimately derailed her professional life.
The surprising developments prompt Detective Eric Bull (Spall) to travel to Morfa Halen, as he is driven by an undeniable suspicion that the two investigations might be connected.
However, swift action is required – prior to the approaching storm erasing any potential traces. The six-episode limited series hails from the creative mind of writer-director Claire Oakley (Culprits), and currently, it’s being filmed in Wales.
Apart from Spall and Reilly, the film Under Salt Marsh boasts a remarkable ensemble featuring Jonathan Pryce from The Crown, Mark Stanley of Happy Valley, and Brian Gleeson, known for his role in Bad Sisters.
