Heartstopper’s Hayley Atwell would love to return with Olivia Colman

As a fervent admirer of Hayley Atwell’s acting prowess and her unwavering support for diverse narratives, I find myself captivated by her recent involvement in Heartstopper. Her portrayal of Aunt Diane was not just a delight to watch, but it also served as a beacon of acceptance and understanding for the queer community, something that resonates deeply with me.

Actress Hayley Atwell expressed her interest in reprising her role alongside Olivia Colman should there be a possible fourth season of the series, “Heartstopper.

In the latest installment of the series about LGBTQ+ issues, the famous character from Marvel was included. Hayley Atwell portrayed Aunt Diane, providing steady support for Kit Connor’s character, Nick Nelson, throughout an exciting and tumultuous storyline.

In the most recent episodes, Colman’s character, Nick’s mom Sarah, is mentioned but doesn’t show up because the award-winning actress couldn’t replay her role because of a scheduling issue.

The actress took time out from publicizing her Netflix animated show Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, where she lends her voice to the lead character, to mention if she might revisit the Heartstopper universe again, possibly accompanied by Colman.

She expressed, “I’d be up for doing all sorts of things with Olivia Colman. For instance, I’d go grocery shopping at Sainsbury’s with her. I have admired her deeply for a long time now. My fondness for her began when I saw her in Tyrannosaur, and that role left a lasting impression on me.

Speaking further about what attracted her to the project, Atwell said: “I find the show incredibly endearing, and I believe it has made a significant positive impact, especially within the younger LGBTQ+ community.

I strongly desired to join that show because it resonated deeply with me as a means of advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, a cause that may not be personally familiar to me, yet holds significant importance within mine.

She added: “And I just love the way in which they depict these emotionally complicated and evolving storylines about what it’s like growing up and coming of age.

I must say, it’s truly heartening to witness a portrayal that resonates so deeply with me as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The care taken in presenting this unique experience is both sensitive and profoundly respectful, making it an exceptional piece of work.

I happily agreed when they asked me to take on the role of an aunt, and I was genuinely excited about it.

Audience members appreciated Atwell’s cameo roles, as our Heartstopper season 3 critique characterized her portrayal of Aunt Diane as “extremely trendy” and the type of family member you wouldn’t mind avoiding during the holidays.

The fourth season of Heartstopper has not been officially confirmed yet, leaving fans anxiously biting their nails in anticipation as they hope to hear news about whether the storyline featuring Charlie and Nick will continue on television.
