Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Adds Prey Star For Season Two

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Adds Prey Star For Season Two

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for the MonsterVerse and a knack for spotting hidden gems in the vast world of entertainment, I can confidently say that the addition of Amber Midthunder to Monarch’s roster is an inspired move. Having witnessed her fierce combat skills as Naruo in Prey, I am thrilled to see her take on a new role as a powerful businesswoman in this kaiju-centric series.

After the massive hit of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire“, which broke records as Legendary’s most profitable monster film in the MonsterVerse, it’s no wonder that the studio and Apple TV+ have fully invested themselves in expanding the world of these titanic beasts. Following the first season’s focus on “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters“, which delved into both the past and present of the kaiju-tracking organization, a Kong-centric second season is now in the works. With filming already underway, it’s expected that Monarch will introduce new characters to their team. Fortunately for them, Amber Midthunder brings valuable combat experience against monsters, even if they are slightly smaller than your typical kaiju.

If you haven’t watched the 2022 release of ‘Prey’, it made headlines by breaking records upon its arrival on Hulu. Set as a prequel to the Predator series, the film features Amber Midthunder as Naruo, a Comanche warrior who encounters one of the alien hunters before Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character, Dutch, had his encounter. Midthunder has also appeared in notable roles in various television and film projects such as ‘Legion’, ‘Reservation Dogs’, and ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. In Monarch’s second season, Midthunder will be playing the role of Isabel, a sharp and influential businesswoman.

Monarch Expands For Season Two

Though an official release date for Season Two of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” hasn’t been announced yet, the fact that production has started suggests that the next installment featuring these giant monsters won’t be far off. Apple TV+ seems optimistic about the MonsterVerse, as they are also working on a spin-off series. However, specifics about this side story are scarce at the moment. Given the cliffhanger ending of Season One, it appears that Monarch will have minimal time to catch their breath after surviving the Hollow Earth, as Kong has now made his presence known.

Previously this year, our team at egmr.ru had an exciting conversation with the co-creators Matt Fraction and Chris Black about potential new beasts for season two. Although no decisions have been made yet, Chris sparked the discussion by expressing his affection for the ‘Hedorah’, a pollution kaiju. He mentioned, “Toho has a rich roster of creatures. Personally, I’m fond of Hoedorah, the Smog Monster. Toho have been wonderful partners and I believe any of their creatures could join our universe if we chose to incorporate them.

The MonsterVerse’s Future

Besides Black expressing his enthusiasm for Hedorah, Matt Fraction expressed his hope that the classic character, Jet Jaguar, would eventually enter the monster-filled universe, stating, “I’d be thrilled to introduce a MonsterVerse version of a Toho creature yet to appear in the films to the series. There are so many great options and I think everyone has their favorites. I personally adore Jet Jaguar; he might not be a full-fledged kaiju, but I have a soft spot for Jet Jaguar.

The third installment of the Godzilla vs. Kong crossover series within the MonsterVerse’s future on TV has been officially confirmed. Although details about the title and plot for this trilogy’s final chapter remain undisclosed, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26th, 2027. Dave Callaham will pen the script for this upcoming sequel, with Grant Putore stepping into the directorial role previously held by Adam Wingard within the MonsterVerse.
