One Piece: Who Is Shanks?

In essence, Shanks, a key character in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece series, is widely considered significant due to his status as one of the Four Sea Emperors. Being one of the strongest characters within the franchise, we haven’t seen much of his full potential in action. He has shown glimpses of his power in the anime and manga, but the extent of the threat he poses to Luffy and the Straw Hats as they pursue the final One Piece treasure remains largely unexplored. This is partly because Shanks might be a formidable opponent for the endgame storyline.

Shanks was the initial motivator for Luffy’s sea voyage. As a previous member of Gol D. Roger’s renowned crew, Shanks played a significant role in shaping Luffy’s youth and is the reason behind Luffy’s famous Straw Hat. Although their paths have nearly crossed throughout their separate adventures, with Shanks evading Luffy up until now, their encounters are inevitable before their journeys conclude.

What Is Sakamoto Days?

Initially published in Shonen Jump in 2020, Sakamoto Days has captivated readers with its distinctive portrayal of the assassin’s world. The series centers around Taro Sakamoto, a former assassin who now operates a convenience store with his loved ones. However, his peaceful life is soon disrupted as he finds himself being drawn back into the dangerous world of assassinations. Consequently, the story unfolds with one action-packed fight following another, as Taro battles increasingly formidable and lethal adversaries in each mission. Along his journey, Taro also forms alliances with various characters.

Next year, the anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days is expected to gain widespread popularity when it airs on TV. Scheduled for release in January 2025 as part of the Winter season, this upcoming anime will be directed by Masaki Watanabe from TMS Entertainment, with Taku Kishimoto handling the scripts and Yo Moriyama designing the characters. When it premieres on Netflix next year, a larger audience will have the chance to enjoy the series, which revolves around a ‘cool overrules all’ type of narrative, where the coolest action or event always takes center stage.
