As a fashion enthusiast who has followed Bella Hadid’s career closely, I must say that her daring and bold choices in fashion have consistently left me in awe. From her head-turning appearances at the Met Gala to her risky looks on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway, she never fails to push boundaries and make a statement.

When you are certain, you truly are. It’s clear that Bella Hadid understood her unique flair for fashion from a young age.

Before making her debut on the runway at New York Fashion Week in 2014, Yolanda Hadid – a diligent, punctual daughter of immigrants Yolanda Hadid and Mohamed Hadid who never missed a day of work – had already been using money from her $7-an-hour job at a juice shop to search for vintage tees, plaid shirts, and rare Betsey Johnson items at the Rose Bowl flea market.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d say I’ve always been spot-on with my preferences, just as I shared in a 2022 Vogue cover feature. Since my youth, I’ve known what appeals to me, and I’ve remained steadfast in this journey, never wavering from my path.

Instead of sauntering through the bustling streets of New York City adorned in multiple layers of leather, she usually flaunts a style that suits her current location – Texas. There, she often sports a classic ten-gallon hat while spending time with her cowboy partner, Adan Banuelos.

But no matter if she’s donning a men’s cummerbund as a top to catch a fashion show in Paris or climbing the red-carpeted steps at the Cannes Film Festival in sheer Saint Laurent, she’s grown accustomed to turning heads.

She observed to Vogue, “Looking out, I notice a crowd of a hundred people all dressed similarly to me. It’s fascinating, she added, that such uniformity in style can be attributed largely to the influence of Instagram.

Even though her 61 million Instagram followers might not enjoy the same high-end fashion opportunities that Bella has accumulated over a decade in the industry, her knack for effortlessly combining casual items like boxer briefs, graphic t-shirts, oversized racing jackets, and Ugg boots is a natural talent she was born with.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve embraced a personal approach to fashion, focusing on items that bring me comfort and joy. In an interview with WSJ. Magazine in 2022, I shared this perspective. The past year has taught me a valuable lesson: regardless of what others may say about my style or whether they like it or not, it’s mine, and that’s what truly matters.

And she owns it.

Despite frequent discussions about her preference for a transparent dress or a net cat suit, she believes the most audacious declaration she’s ever made was through color choice.

Regarding the scarlet Alexandre Vauthier gown she donned at Cannes in 2016, she referred to it as a bold choice. She admitted that she still blushes recalling the daring fit of the dress, despite its beauty, as she shared with Vogue in 2021.

The celebrity explained, “I believe this marked the emergence of the Bella character everyone knows me as, on my 28th birthday, October 9th. That’s my alter ego, Belinda. I’m quite different from her; she’s quite bold and glamorous. She can be a bit nervous, but she’s lovely!

And now? Shrug.

Discussing the “artwork” by Schiaparelli that she wore to Cannes in 2021, she confessed she had concerns about its durability, as her outfit consisted solely of a metallic neckpiece concealing her torso.

She shared with Vogue that when she looked down, all could be seen. So, walking on the carpet was quite peculiar, as if there was a breeze in areas typically without one.

Nevertheless, she explained, “I believe I briefly inspected the cup in my car before getting out, and that was all. It felt like, ‘This is going to occur, it’s about to happen right now as I walk this red carpet.’ If within five minutes, photos of my breasts are everywhere, then that’s what was meant to transpire.

Although she momentarily stepped away from the runway, it’s clear that her role as a fashion influencer is far from over. In fact, as she hinted to Vogue, there’s certainly more exciting work on the horizon for her.

For now, enjoy this look back at where she’s been.
