DI Ray season 2 ITV start date confirmed as Parminder Nagra returns

As a seasoned movie critic who’s witnessed the rise and fall of many silver screen icons, I must say that the return of DI Ray is a breath of fresh air. Having spent years scrutinizing the performances of A-listers in blockbusters from around the globe, it’s refreshing to see such a compelling drama unfold on the small screen.

At last, the wait is over! We now have a confirmed date for the return of DI Ray in its second season on ITV, and it’s not much longer to go.

The confirmation for a second installment of the crime drama featuring Parminder Nagra came as early as 2022. However, there’s been minimal optimism shared by the broadcaster for viewers across the ocean since then.

On Sunday, 20th October, I’ll be delighted to find myself once again in the role of DI Rachita Ray. After the summer’s release of season 2 in Canada through WPBS, I eagerly anticipate our reunion on screen.

On ITV1, the three-part series is scheduled to unfold over three consecutive evenings. This implies that the second episode will be shown on Monday, October 21st, and the grand finale will follow on Tuesday, October 22nd.

It’s been verified that Nagra will reappear, and she’ll be accompanied by some recognizable characters as the remainder of the police force from the fictitious town where the series takes place also returns.

Included within this group are Gemma Whelan, known for her role as DCI Kerry Henderson on Game of Thrones, and Jamie Bamber from Battlestar Galactica, who portrays her fiancé and fellow detective, Martyn Hunter. Martyn’s links to organized crime could potentially endanger his position within the force at the conclusion of season 1, with regard to Ray.

In addition to Maanuv Thiara (Landscapers) returning, her co-star PS Tony Khatri is back in the mix, and Steve Oram will once again portray DS Clive Bottomley.

As Ray is recalled to handle a growing intricate double homicide case, there’s no question about his ability to do so effectively.

On Sunday, October 20th at 9pm, DI Ray’s second season kicks off on ITV1. Further episodes will air throughout the week.
