Until Dawn Remake Reportedly Debuted with Fewer PS5 Players Than Concord

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say I am quite perplexed by the lackluster performance of Sony and Ballistic Moon’s remake of Until Dawn. Having played countless horror games, I can confidently assert that this genre has the power to captivate even the most hardened skeptics.

Earlier this month, Sony and Ballistic Moon’s remake of the game “Until Dawn” was released, yet it doesn’t seem to be doing particularly well in terms of sales or player count. In fact, at its launch, this horror title appears to have drawn a smaller audience than many of the most notable flops in recent gaming history.

According to a report by TrueTrophies, based on gameplay data from more than 3.1 million active PlayStation Network accounts, Until Dawn had 28% fewer players on PS5 at launch compared to the struggling game Concord, which was released earlier this year and was removed from online availability and sales after only two weeks.

So far this year, it appears that the biggest solo-player debut for the PS5 has been The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. This game reportedly drew 98.5% more players on its release than Until Dawn’s remake did at their respective launches.

On PC as well, this terrifying game can be found, yet it didn’t significantly outperform there either. Its peak player count on Steam was only slightly more than 2,000 simultaneous players, which places it among Sony’s least successful titles on that particular platform so far.

The reception for Until Dawn has been somewhat divided, with the remake receiving a Metacritic score of 70 based on 31 reviews. However, our own assessment of the remake was more favorable, earning it an 8/10. Despite some criticisms regarding its pricing and whether or not it should have been remade, Until Dawn’s remake is generally considered a strong and improved version of a modern horror classic. A movie adaptation of “Until Dawn” is set to release next year, following its completion in filming. It’s been rumored that a follow-up to “Until Dawn” is also being worked on by Firesprite. You can read more about it using this link.
