Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is getting a fan-favorite map just a week after launch

What you need to know

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is slated to launch across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on October 25, as well as being available in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
  • Fan-favorite map Nuketown first appeared in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.
  • Nuketown is being added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Nov. 1, 2024.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I hear about the return of Nuketown to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This map has been a staple of the franchise for over a decade now, and it’s always been one of my favorites.

Idyllic neighborhood life is on the way.

Nuketown, a beloved map, is set to feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 by Treyarch, Raven Software, and Activision. This was announced via the official Call of Duty Twitter account on Thursday. While it won’t be accessible right at launch, fans can expect to play Nuketown starting from November 1, 2024, a week after the game’s release.

Nuketown has been a constant presence in the Call of Duty series for over ten years, making its debut in Treyarch’s initial release of Call of Duty: Black Ops back in 2010. Since then, it’s popped up with modifications and updates in every game within the Black Ops branch.

The map has been labeled due to its location, which is a quaint, typically American small town populated by mannequins, designed for the purpose of rehearsing a nuclear incident scenario.

Over time, Nuketown has consistently been a fan favorite due to its skillfully designed levels that encourage intense, swift battles and sharp reactions. Additionally, it’s renowned for its Zombies mode, which requires strategic timing and precise movement to avoid being overrun by swarms of zombies.

I’m really looking forward to welcoming my team to Nuketown. I can hardly wait! It would be fantastic if we could play Zombies there too, but we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed until it’s released.

The upcoming game “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” is scheduled to release on October 25, 2024. It will be available for play on various platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC (including Steam, the Microsoft Store, and Battle.net), PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Interestingly, this is the first time an Xbox first-party game, and for the Call of Duty series in particular, will be included on day one with the “Xbox Game Pass Ultimate” subscription service and PC Game Pass.
