Having played my fair share of Japanese-developed RPGs over the years, I’ve seen peaks and troughs in player numbers, but never have I witnessed such a remarkable surge like this one.

The buzz about the game ReFantazio is immense, and when critics called it one of the top games of the year before its launch, the anticipation for this fantasy RPG grew even more. Now that the game has been released, this excitement is evident in the impressive numbers it’s garnering.

According to SteamDB, the game Metaphor: ReFantazio reached a maximum concurrent player count of 61,838 on Steam. This is an astounding figure, and it becomes even more remarkable when placed alongside the numbers achieved by other popular RPGs in recent times.
