As a seasoned Fortnite player with years of gaming under my belt, I must say, the latest v31.40 update has certainly brought a fresh wave of excitement! The Fortnitemares event and its horrifyingly fun additions have always been one of my favorites, and this year is no exception. The new Halloween-themed skins, from Saw’s Billy to The Nightmare Before Christmas outfits, are already causing quite a stir among the community.

The new update, which was initially planned for release on October 11th, actually became available on October 12th.
Epic Games, previously known as Twitter, disclosed that there would be a delay in the update and the Halloween event.
Anyway, the update is here now. All is forgiven.

What changes in the Fortnite update today?
Today’s Fortnite update (version 31.40) introduces the Fortnitemares festival, complete with its eerie happenings.
During the event, you can anticipate an abundance of horror-inspired costumes being rolled out, featuring characters such as Billy the puppet from Saw, Leatherface from the Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and even garments inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
During this year’s event, you can expect numerous Halloween-themed map updates, along with additional features, to be showcased.
Additionally, in the Battle Royale mode, the LEGO mode has received an enormous update – now you can enjoy split-screen local multiplayer right within the game!
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest addition to the LEGO mode post the v31.40 update – the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass! This thrilling feature allows me to unlock the Andy Fangerson outfit for both LEGO and Battle Royale modes upon completion. It’s like receiving a secret, cinematic gift that only fellow LEGO fans can appreciate!

Split-screen
- LEGO Fortnite split-screen is now live on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One versions of the game
- Start Fortnite and go to the LEGO Fortnite Lobby
- Connect the second controller
- Select the second player’s console account (note: Guest and Quick Play console accounts are not supported)
- After picking a console account, Fortnite will automatically ask the player to link their Epic account (if they link their Epic account, they can access their Locker Outfits, Passes, Quests, and other progress)
- After the second player is logged into Fortnite, they will appear in the lobby
- Hold onto your bricks… Split-screen mode will automatically begin when you start LEGO Fortnite!
Brick or Treat LEGO Pass
- The Brick or Treat LEGO Pass is live!
- Complete quests to earn Studs
- Earn enough Studs to complete the Pass
- Unlock the Andy Fangerson outfit and LEGO style for completing the Premium Reward Track
- Ends on 10th December 2024

Improvements and adjustments
- Reduced the number of times the Tomato Leader can heal
- Added map markers for NaNa Villages, allowing players to find the villages more easily when they’re in range of one
- Fixed an issue where an enemy’s Crossbow didn’t change colour in certain situations
