Overwatch 2 Season 13: Spellbinder Adds New Mode, Mythic Widowmaker Skin, and More

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the latest update for Overwatch 2 has me thoroughly excited! The Spellbinder season, with its Halloween twist, brings a fresh new vibe to the game. The PvP mode in Junkenstein’s Laboratory is an innovative take on Team Deathmatch, and the Mutations add an extra layer of strategy that I can’t wait to explore.

I’m thrilled to share that starting October 15th, I’m diving into the 13th season of Overwatch 2, and this time it’s all about Spellbinder! Just as anticipated, it’s their spooktacular Halloween event, although there won’t be a fresh PvE extension to Junkenstein’s Revenge. Instead, we’re exploring a new PvP territory – Junkenstein’s Laboratory! Can’t wait to see what surprises await us there!

Fundamentally, Team Deathmatch presents a gameplay mode with Mutations, modifications that change a character’s skills. For example, Reinhardt’s Charge will detonate upon pinning an opponent against a wall, while the Reaper regains his original Soul Orb passive ability. This limited-time mode lasts until November 4th, but fortunately, PvE modes such as Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bridge remain accessible throughout the season.

The newest skin for Widowmaker is called “Mythic,” starting off as an apprentice in potions and progressing into a master of dark arts. If you fully upgrade the Mythic Hero Skin, you’ll receive additional features called Gilded Aspects, which feature a black-and-gold color scheme (with future plans to include Mythic Weapon options).

In Season 13, “Spellbinder” will synchronize with an upcoming balance adjustment, so keep an eye out for further updates when it becomes active tomorrow. Additionally, a partnership with “My Hero Academia” is scheduled for October 17th – learn more about it here.
