Microsoft's October 2024 'Xbox Partner Preview' event revealed: Alan Wake II expansion, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and much more

What you need to know

  • Xbox’s Partner Preview events are semi-regular showcases of upcoming games for Xbox and Windows PC.
  • Typically showcasing third-party titles, the show offers a platform for developers of all sizes to give us a glimpse of what they’ve been working on.
  • We understand that the showcase will detail titles like Alan Wake II’s next expansion, “The Lake House,” as well as new trailers for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, the soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, “multiple world premiers,” and much more.
  • It all goes down on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 1PM ET and 6PM BST (UK) across Xbox’s channels on YouTube and Twitch.

As someone who has been following the gaming industry for decades and has witnessed numerous Xbox events, I am thrilled about the upcoming Xbox Partner Preview showcase on October 17, 2024! The lineup of games being teased, including Alan Wake II’s expansion, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and the intriguing soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, has me genuinely excited.

Indeed, the whispers you’ve heard are accurate! Microsoft has scheduled an exciting Partner Preview event for October 17, 2024, starting at 1PM Eastern Time or 6PM Greenwich Mean Time.

Last month, I was thrilled to attend Microsoft’s latest Xbox Partner Preview event – if we exclude the Xbox Showcase in June that primarily showcased third-party games. What sets these Partner Previews apart is that they exclusively feature content from third-parties, offering us a sneak peek into the future of the Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC gaming landscape.

In March, Microsoft unveiled games such as Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Frostpunk 2, The Alters, Persona 3 Reload DLC, and The First Berserker, giving you a sense of what to anticipate from this event. To further build your excitement, Microsoft also teased what they have planned for their October event.

Upcoming trailers for Alan Wake II DLC titled “The Lake House” along with Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii are on the horizon. Additionally, we’ll see a boss battle trailer for the game Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which has a dark Chinese soulslike theme. Plus, there will be several new additions to Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft also hinted at “multiple world premieres.

Alan Wake 2, hailing from the creators of Max Payne and Control (Remedy Entertainment), is a blend of survival-horror and investigative narrative adventure with an additional focus on story development post-release through DLCs, such as the latest addition, The Lake House.

It’s quite likely that Microsoft could give us a sneak peek of new features coming to the Xbox platform during this event. As Xbox President Sarah Bond has announced, Xbox Cloud Gaming will soon support “bring your own game” and buy-to-own options for select Xbox games, starting in November. However, it remains unclear which specific games will be available initially, as it seems that not the entire library of Xbox games will be accessible right away.

So, how can I watch the Xbox Partner Preview October 2024 event?
