As a heartbroken fan who has followed the Gaudreau brothers’ journey from the minor leagues to their untimely demise, I am deeply moved by the strength and resilience displayed by both Madeline and Meredith. These women, who have already lost their husbands, are now bravely preparing for new chapters in their lives while keeping the memory of their loved ones alive.
Matthew Gaudreau’s wife is keeping his memory alive.
Madeline Gaudreau, who is currently pregnant with her first child by the late minor league hockey player, recently held a baby shower adorned with tributes to Matthew and his brother, Johnny Gaudreau.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on October 13th, Madeline shared that her dream baby shower was taking place as she announced the arrival of her son, Tripp. Seeing how everyone managed to incorporate her late husband’s memory touched her deeply, causing instant tears when she entered the room.
Back in June, I was overjoyed when my beloved idols, the dynamic duo, announced they were about to welcome their first bundle of joy into the world on social media. Fast forward two months, and my heart is shattered as Matthew, just 29, and his 31-year-old brother Johnny – who share adorable kids Noa, aged 2, Johnny Edward, a vibrant 8-month-old, and another little one on the way with the lovely Meredith Gaudreau – tragically lost their lives in a biking accident in New Jersey on August 29.
Madeline wrote in her post, ‘My loved ones – friends and family – can’t bring Dad or Uncle John back, but it’s comforting to know he’s surrounded by wonderful folks who help keep their memories alive.’
The 30-year-old also shared another post that showed off all the decorations from her elaborate party—including cookies, balloons and the theme, “A little piece of heaven,” a nod to the late Gaudreau brothers.
Moreover, the baby shower served as a heartfelt homage to her deceased spouse, and it’s not the only occasion where Madeline has shared stories about her husband’s passing. They exchanged vows back in 2021.
In a post on August 31, Madeline expressed, ‘I’m at a loss for words.’ She continued, ‘All I can say is that I miss you terribly. Life without you feels incomplete. This pain I’m experiencing is unlike anything I’ve known before. You were the best part of me. I believe you’re watching over us from above, feeling just as much sorrow as I am feeling hope here on earth. I will keep going for us and our son. My love for you remains immense.’
Simultaneously, Meredith, aged 31, has similarly experienced the loss of her spouse who was previously with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and she’s been expressing her thanks for her recent pregnancy announcement made last month.
Three short years into their marriage, Meredith finds herself part of a family of five. It seems unbelievable, yet she considers it an extraordinary gift. What incredible luck to be the mother of Johnny’s three precious children! Our most recent addition is a blessing, even amidst challenging times.
