Overwatch 2 Season 13 Update Nerfs Ramattra and Juno, Reworks Sombra, and Buffs Mauga

Overwatch 2 Season 13 Update Nerfs Ramattra and Juno, Reworks Sombra, and Buffs Mauga

As a seasoned Overwatch player with over 500 hours under my belt, I must say these changes are quite intriguing! The Formruptor shot getting a damage boost makes it a more formidable area denial tool, and the additional Railgun energy generation gives it more versatility.

The spooky festivity of Halloween Terror is making a comeback in Overwatch 2 as Season 13: Spellbinder arrives on October 15th. Alongside the new season comes an adjustment to the game’s balance, and Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled substantial modifications that will impact characters such as Mauga, Ramattra, Juno, Sombra, and many others.

Initially, Mauga’s Incendiary Chaingun’s ignite duration was three seconds, but it has been changed to four seconds now. In contrast, Ramattra can no longer penetrate barriers with his Pummel attack, however, the damage has increased by a factor of 2.5, providing more tactical flexibility for other tanks. Previously, Juno’s Mediblaster healed 6.5 HP/s per projectile, but now it heals six HP/s per projectile. Additionally, the falloff range for the Mediblaster has been adjusted from 30-50 meters to 20-35 meters.

Baptiste’s primary fire is getting a 30 percent reduction in recoil (which is more about reducing the fatigue of managing it). Brigitte’s Repair Pack will have an increased cooldown – 5.5 seconds instead of 5. As for Sombra, her Hack no longer ends Stealth (though it does reveal her to enemies), and the ability lockout duration goes from 1.5 to 1 second.

Additionally, Stealth is now activated using the Translocator and lasts for just five seconds. On the other hand, Opportunist has been made passive, and Sombra inflicts 20% increased damage on targeted enemies that have been hacked. Here are the changes to the hero; for a complete rundown of the updates, please refer to the full patch notes.

Overwatch 2 Retail Patch Notes – October 15, 2024

HERO UPDATES

General

Swapping your hero hides your selection on the enemy scoreboard for 15 seconds.

Developer Note: Implementing this update increases resistance to counter-swapping, noticeably so in situations where players on opposing teams are both idle in spawn, have the scoreboard visible, and quickly switch characters in reaction to one another’s selections.

Tank

Mauga

Incendiary Chaingun

  • Ignite damage over time duration increased from 3 to 4 seconds.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that extending Mauga’s burn effect duration makes it more advantageous to aim for those tricky, elusive targets. It definitely pays off!

Ramattra

Pummel

  • No longer pierces barriers.
  • Now deals 2.5x more damage to barriers.

As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that the struggle of dodging Ramattra’s relentless projectiles while shielding myself or my comrades has been a constant source of frustration. However, these updates have transformed Ramattra into an indispensable hero choice against barrier-heavy opponents. Now, he can deal critical damage to barriers, ensuring that they remain effective in combat. Yet, he won’t accidentally harm players on the other side of those barriers.

Reinhardt

Barrier Field

  • Health reduced from 1600 to 1500.

Developer Notes: I’m making minor adjustments to the resistance and recovery speed of the barrier since it was becoming a bit too strong to penetrate.

Damage

Hanzo

  • Base health increased from 225 to 250.

Developer Note: Given the recent adjustments to weapon damage, we’re returning Hanzo to his original health state as it is now feasible to defeat an opponent Hanzo with a precision headshot.

Sojourn

Railgun

  • Energy no longer stops degenerating at 25 energy.
  • Time before energy degeneration begins increased from 7 to 12 seconds.

Disruptor Shot

  • Damage per second increased from 60 to 80
  • Now generates 25% of damage done to enemy players as Railgun energy.

Developer Notes: Instead of immediately losing 25 units of energy, the Railgun now takes longer to deteriorate in energy. This reduces the need for quick use of its secondary fire. The Disruptor Shot’s damage is being increased to enhance its utility as a tool for area control, and it will also generate a small amount of Railgun energy, making it more versatile.

Sombra

Hack

  • No longer ends Stealth but does reveal Sombra.
  • Hacked ability lockout effect duration reduced from 1.5 to 1.0 seconds (EMP duration unchanged).
  • BOB hacked stun duration reduced from 10 to 3 seconds.

Stealth

  • No longer passive and now activates by using Translocator.
  • Now has a 5 second duration.
  • Added stealth timer around the reticle and removed ability icon.
  • Taking damage now reveals Sombra for 1 second instead of ending stealth.

Translocator

  • Cooldown increased from 5 to 7 seconds.

EMP

  • Ultimate cost increased 12%.

Opportunist

  • The Opportunist passive has been added back in.
  • Increases Sombra’s weapon damage versus hacked targets by 20%.
  • See critically injured enemies through walls.

Comment from Developer: We’re modifying Sombra’s gameplay style with the aim to make her interactions with the enemy team more frequent, and by doing so, we’re redistributing some of her power from stealth and hack capabilities towards enhanced destructive potential.

The brief time span of Sombra’s Stealth, which is shorter than the Translocator’s cooldown, is designed to create temporary moments of exposure. While it allows her to move through perilous areas undetected, staying in enemy backlines for an extended period will necessitate a cover-to-cover maneuvering strategy similar to other flanking heroes. Additionally, the removal of reduced movement speed during damage makes Sombra’s Stealth more effective as an escape tool due to its increased utility.

Support

Baptiste

Biotic Launcher

  • Primary fire recoil reduced by 30%.

Developer Note: The intention behind this update is primarily to alleviate the strain from prolonged recoil control during gameplay, rather than focusing on increasing the strength of Baptiste’s main weapon.

Brigitte

Repair Pack

  • Cooldown increased from 5 to 5.5 seconds.

Developer Note: To ensure balance in gameplay, we’re making a minor tweak to lower Brigitte’s healing output slightly throughout a match.

Juno

Mediblaster

  • Falloff range reduced from 30-50 meters to 20-35 meters.
  • Healing per projectile reduced from 6.5 to 6.

Comment from Developer: To balance Juno’s high healing output, we are reducing the reach of her healing effect to make it crucial for players to strategically position themselves using her mobility skills.
