Metaphor Refantazio: Best Skills to Unlock First

As an old-time gamer with over three decades of experience under my belt, let me tell you that these skills are truly game changers! In my humble opinion, these are the ones every adventurer should aim to master first.

As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about how ReFantazio empowers us to access and carry forward an array of abilities from our Archetypes. However, it’s crucial to prioritize mastering the top-notch talents first.

After all, leveling up the Archetypes to unlock the skills takes time. On top of that, you always have to pay a Magla fee when inheriting the skill to use it with different Archetypes. This is especially true early in the game when you are most limited by time and resources!

Don’t worry, as our guide will inform you about the most essential skills to focus on initially.

First Aid

Metaphor Refantazio: Best Skills to Unlock First

In Metaphor: ReFantazio, one of the most beneficial healing skills you can acquire is unlocked upon reaching Rank 4 as a Knight Archetype. This essentially means that you’ll have access to First Aid.

Although this spell may not offer a strong heal for just one target, its significant advantage lies in its extremely low cost of 2 Magic Points (MP) to cast. This makes it an essential choice early in the game when managing your MP can be challenging. Moreover, it’s easy to acquire and provides a respectable amount of healing suitable for the early stages of the game.

Medi

As you advance in the game, individual healing abilities may seem less effective due to enemies often focusing on multiple party members with their area-of-effect (AoE) attacks. In such situations, Medi proves to be a valuable asset. You can acquire this skill by reaching level 3 within the Healer Archetype.

As a gamer, I’d say: This skill, Medi, heals more HP than First Aid and distributes the healing effect to the entire party. However, it comes at a higher MP price of 10. Still, it’s advisable to have one character equipped with Medi as soon as possible. It’ll significantly boost your party’s survival chances against formidable enemies that unleash Area of Effect (AoE) attacks, such as the minotaur Guptauros.

Patra

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours honing my skills and climbing through the ranks of various games, I can confidently say that reaching Rank 5 with any character archetype is no small feat. However, for those who have dedicated themselves to the Healer Archetype, unlocking Patra as a skill should be considered a significant milestone in their gaming journey. The time and effort required to reach such a high rank speaks volumes about a player’s commitment, patience, and strategic thinking. In my experience, players who master the art of healing are truly valued by their teammates, and unlocking Patra only adds to their repertoire of valuable skills. So, if you’re a Healer Archetype player striving for greatness, keep pushing through those ranks – Patra awaits!

As a fan, I’d like to highlight that unlike the other abilities on the list, Patra doesn’t restore HP. Instead, it clears all status ailments for one character. Given the severity of certain conditions such as Malady, this ability is an absolute necessity. Moreover, it spares you from spending money on recovery items.

Lucky Find

As a gamer, I’ve reached Rank 2 with the Merchant Archetype, and here’s something exciting I’ve unlocked: a feature that comes with quite a hefty price tag. To inherit this, I’ll need a substantial amount of Magla – 5000 units to be exact!

Nonetheless, the skill itself is simple: it increases item drop rates from battles by 20%. This effect even works when you instakill enemies while exploring without initiating proper turn-based combat!

In battles, adversaries frequently leave behind numerous beneficial resources, including supplies and even weaponry. Gathering more of these drops at the start could prove highly advantageous later on. Moreover, excess items can be readily sold for some Reeve.

Tarukaja

Metaphor Refantazio: Best Skills to Unlock First

This is one of the earliest skills you can unlock in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and also conveniently one of the best. Tarukaja is unlocked once the Seeker Archetype reaches Rank 4.

For those who’ve experienced ATLUS’ past titles, notably Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, they’d be familiar with this mechanic. In essence, you have the ability to invoke Tarukaja on a teammate, boosting their attack power for three consecutive turns. This bonus effect can actually build up to a maximum of three instances, each instance restarting the duration count.

Piling up three Tarukajas onto your chosen attackers will give you an advantage to swiftly shift the course of the fight. Therefore, don’t forget to utilize this effectively!

Knight’s Proclamation

The innate ability, Knight’s Proclamation, is uniquely suited to any character you want to roleplay as a tank. It’s specifically tailored for the Knight Archetype.

This ability is most effective when employed by characters positioned in the rear line, as its user tends to attract enemy assaults instead of fellow team members. While some attacks may bypass this effect occasionally, it’s quite unusual. Regardless, it provides a means for one character to absorb damage, thus reducing overall harm sustained by your entire team.

As a bonus tip, pay attention to the different resistances of your Archetype while using this!

Gold Attack

Should you be well-off and desire to show it off boldly, then Gold Attack is the ideal move for you! This unique ability is inherent to the Merchant Character Type.

This ability stands out as it doesn’t deplete MP or HP when activated; instead, it requires 500 Reeve. Notably, it delivers modest Almighty damage to a single target and boasts a high critical rate. It’s important to note that scoring a Critical Hit grants an additional turn! Furthermore, Almighty damage is unresistable, making this skill remarkably adaptable.

Slicer

Unlocking the skill “Slicer” is achieved when you advance the Warrior Archetype to rank 8, which represents a powerful early-game attacking ability.

This assault delivers 2 to 4 Slash-style blows against a solitary target, making it exceptionally effective when combating singular opponents. To amplify its destructive power, don’t forget about Tarukaja as previously discussed. Combining Tarukaja with Slicer while under the influence of the buff results in one of the most efficient ways to deal damage to individual enemies!

Poison Shot

Metaphor Refantazio: Best Skills to Unlock First

The last skill on our list of the best skills to unlock first in Metaphor: ReFantazio has to be Poison Shot. You learn it when the Gunner Archetype reaches Rank 3. This skill is pretty unique, compared to other early-game attack options!

To start off, let’s make clear that this tool is exclusively effective when used from a distance at the back. In other words, it avoids the typical reduction in power that close-combat attacks experience from the back line. This feature allows it to dish out substantial damage regardless, making it an excellent choice for melee characters operating from the back row.

As its title suggests, this bad boy can slather enemies with poison. In this game, poison packs a punch, dealing a good chunk of HP damage each turn. What’s more, it’s not just limited to regular foes; even some bosses can catch it too. If luck is on your side, it can significantly cut down those intense battles.

“We’ve reached the end of our list, and now you know which abilities are top-notch for an initial unlock in Metaphor: ReFantazio. We hope this guide assists you in overcoming all the challenging humans you’ll meet during your enchanting adventure!
