Emmerdale airs huge return for legacy Dingle character in early ITV episode

As a lifelong fan of Emmerdale who has witnessed the rise and fall of many beloved characters, I must say that the return of Tina Dingle (Samantha Power) was nothing short of electrifying! The writers have always had a knack for keeping us guessing, but this comeback was truly unexpected.

heads up: Thursday’s Emmerdale episode (October 17, 2024) – filled with surprises and twists – now streaming on ITVX. Proceed with caution if you don’t want the ending spoiled!

In a stunning twist, the soap opera Emmerdale brought back one of the Dingle family members who had been absent for quite some time, unexpectedly interrupting Steve Halliwell’s character Zak’s farewell scene.

As I stepped off the train in Scotland, I was warmly greeted by Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Sam (James Hooton), sons of the Dingle patriarch who had tragically passed away. To my surprise, it was disclosed that this esteemed figure desired an immediate burial within the very heart of our village, his cherished home.

In an unusual turn of events, Sam and Cain were spotted preparing a grave while enjoying Zak’s favorite tunes.

In a heartfelt moment, Zak’s cherished daughter Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) sat solitarily at home, weeping over his coffin and expressing to him how secure he had always made her feel.

Afterward, they carried the casket inside the Woolpack, and Police Constable Mike Swirling, also known as Andy Moore, dropped by to offer his condolences. The townsfolk reminisced about Zak, followed by a heartfelt toast given by a tearful Cain.

Joshua Richards, portraying Bear Wolf, contemplated Zak’s romantic situation, mentioning the lady whom Zak abandoned in favor of, Joanie Wright, played by Denise Black.

Chas clearly stated that he never discussed her, and it turned out that hanging out with Joanie had made Zak quite disliked during that period.

Before Zak’s casket was escorted to Dingle land with the rhythm of drums, songs were sung and drinks were savored, fulfilling his final wishes, as he had specified.

However, my entrance unexpectedly disrupted the burial proceedings – I was none other than Tina, Cain, Sam, and Belle’s sibling, portrayed by the talented Samantha Power!

Tina issued some harsh words to her relatives, before Marlon (Mark Charnock) delivered the eulogy and the extended Dingles each shared a moving few words about Zak.

However, Belle felt troubled, and hastily returned to the house to gather the remaining fragments of her mother Lisa’s cremated remains.

In simpler terms, Mandy expressed her mistrust towards Tina prior to things getting resolved again. Later on, Belle combined Lisa’s remains with those of Zak in the same grave.

After discovering pictures of Wishing Well cottage on Tina’s phone, Mandy approached Tina later on and learned that Tina intended to have the property appraised. According to Tina, this was because she felt entitled to a portion of the property.

During the commotion, Lydia (Karen Blick), acting as a mediator, forcefully shoved Tina into the ground when Tina spoke disrespectfully towards Sam. Later on, Lydia disclosed that she was responsible for overseeing Zak’s last will and testament.

Later, the family discovered a tag around Tina’s ankle, prompting a police officer to appear and reprimand her before taking her back home.

Meanwhile, Cain was struggling to cope, and Belle and Sam vowed to convince him to step up in Zak’s absence. But as for Tina, will she be back to claim her inheritance?

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
