Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Development is “Progressing More Smoothly Than Expected”

As a long-time fan of the Yakuza series, this latest development has me absolutely thrilled! Not only are we getting to embark on another grand adventure set in the vibrant world of Ryu Ga Gotoku, but the game is releasing earlier than expected! It’s like Christmas came early!

In our gaming world, it’s hardly unexpected when game releases get pushed back, given how often these events occur. Yet, it’s always refreshing to come across exceptions. Just recently, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.” Remarkably, they’ve accelerated the release date of this action-adventure masterpiece by a week!

As a devoted fan, I recently came across an exciting update from RGG Studio’s head, Masayoshi Yokoyama. In a separate video, he shared some intriguing insights as to why our beloved game will be releasing a week earlier than anticipated. Here’s the catch: development is progressing even better than they had hoped!

It appears that Yokoyama hints at a possible shift in the release date for Like a Dragon, to avoid conflicting with Monster Hunter Wilds which is due on February 28. Although he didn’t explicitly mention Capcom’s action RPG, he suggests that both RGG Studio and Sega desire players to enjoy “the game that follows it”, without any concerns.

Exciting news! I’m thrilled to announce that the release date for our game has been moved up by a week, now slated for February 21, 2025. The reason for this accelerated launch is twofold: firstly, development has been smoother than anticipated, and secondly, we wanted to get this game into your hands as quickly as possible. By doing so, you can enjoy the next title in our series with a clear conscience. I’m grateful for the collaboration of everyone at Sega, both internally and externally, which has made this early release a reality.

When it launches in February, the game “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” can be played on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and personal computers (PC).
