As a long-time Corrie fan with over two decades of watching under my belt, I must say that this latest twist in the Joel Deering murder case has left me reeling! The writers have once again proven their mastery at keeping us on our toes.
heads up: Friday’s Coronation Street episode from October 18th, 2024 (streamable on ITVX now), has some plot twists that might be spoilers for you as a fellow cinema enthusiast.
On Coronation Street, a significant clue about who killed Joel Deering (played by Calum Lill) has been subtly introduced, and this revelation is even more astounding than discovering that the culprit had already perished.
On Ronnie Bailey’s birthday, as Kit Green inquired about their whereabouts on the night Joel died, Ronnie and his brother Ed found themselves under scrutiny. However, once Kit departed, it became evident that the two brothers were concealing some information.
Channique Sterling-Brown’s character, Dee-Dee Bailey, wasn’t pleased that Kit inquired about her father and uncle, and her sibling, Michael (portrayed by Ryan Russell), pondered the reason behind her short temper.
As I observed, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) chanced upon Joel’s address displayed on Ronnie’s satellite navigation system, and a vivid recollection unfolded before my eyes – one featuring Ronnie and Ed, with Ronnie gripping a crowbar at that very location.
Currently, Ronnie is giving an explanation for the circumstances. However, during his birthday celebration, Michael clarified to Debbie that it was his car, not Ronnie’s, which was utilized for Joel’s move – contrary to what he had previously informed her.
In the realm of cinema, I found myself reminiscing about a scene where it was just me, old pal Ed, and time on our hands, waiting for Joel. The narrative took a turn as Ronnie and Ed were compelled to unveil the truth to Dee-Dee and Debbie: we had broken into Joel’s apartment on the night of his demise, with the intent to confront him violently.
Yet, they maintained that no further events occurred – despite Ed’s suspicions about whether Ronnie truly left immediately, as stated.
Distraught and unsteady, Dee-Dee made her way home, and it was with a heavy heart that Ed learned about the conversation he’d had with Ronnie earlier that evening when Dee-Dee shared what she’d overheard.
It turned out that Ed thought Dee-Dee had considered them as murderers throughout, but then another flashback revealed Dee-Dee moving towards Joel’s car, carrying a crowbar instead.
The final flashback of the week showed Dee-Dee frantically washing her hands of blood as she sank to the floor, sobbing. Did Dee-Dee kill Joel?
