Following her stint on The Dating Game, Sheryl Bradshaw decided to move away from California for the purpose of living a secluded lifestyle and raising a family, as shared by Netflix.

Did Rodney Alcala really appear on The Dating Game?
Indeed, it was in the year 1978 that Rodney Alcala made an appearance on a show called “The Dating Game.” Later on, due to his criminal activities, he became infamously known as the “Dating Game Murderer.
In the film, Alcala’s introduction to the audience and Sheryl portrays him as a “photographer who had his beginnings at the tender age of 13 when he was discovered by his father in the darkroom, already having developed his own photographs.
At the conclusion of the show, Alcala secured a date with Sheryl; however, she expressed discomfort and informed the contestant coordinator, Ellen Metzger, on the following day that she preferred not to meet up with him.
Metzger told ABC that Ellen conveyed, “Ellen, I can’t hang out with this man because I sense some odd feelings from him. He seems unusual and makes me uneasy. Is there an issue with that?” To which he responded, “No.
How did the police catch Rodney Alcala?
At the conclusion of Woman of the Hour, Netflix clarifies that, back in 1979, a young runaway managed to evade Rodney Alcala by asking him to make their meeting confidential.
In the midst of my pending trial, I was granted bail and resumed my life outside prison. Regrettably, during this time, I committed heinous acts – taking the lives of a 21-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl. It was upon my subsequent arrest that the police discovered the horrific crimes I had committed.
For more than ten years, survivors and private individuals have reported Alcala to the authorities, but no action was taken as a result.

Where is Rodney Alcala now?
In July 2021, Rodney Alcala died of natural causes while on death row.
In 1980, Alcala was given a death sentence for the abduction and murder of 12-year-old Robin Samsoe. However, four years later, this verdict was overturned, leading to a fresh trial for him.
In 1986, Alcala received a death sentence for the second time due to Samsoe’s murder, but this verdict was reversed in 2003, leading to a fresh retrial for him.
Subsequently, a match was found between his DNA and samples from other murder scenes, leading to Alcala being charged with the killings of four additional women.
In 2010, Alcala was found guilty on five charges related to first-degree murder, which included the deaths of Samsoe and four additional women, and was subsequently sentenced.
Two years passed, and Alcala was handed over to New York authorities following accusations of murdering two females. He admitted his guilt and received a sentence of 25 years to life as a consequence.
Back in 2016, he faced accusations for the murder of a 28-year-old woman who went missing in 1978. Her body was discovered in 1982.
