“I Absolutely Know How Much Banjo-Kazooie Means to Our Fans,” Xbox Exec Says

As a gamer who vividly remembers the thrilling adventures of Banjo and Kazooie, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon reading this news. Growing up, these vibrant characters were part of my gaming journey, and their absence left a gap that no other platformer could quite fill.

It’s been more than 15 years since we last saw a new game in the “Banjo-Kazooie” platformer series, but fans of this duo have remained hopeful that they will get another chance to play as the bear and bird characters. Some recent rumors indicated that Xbox’s vice president of games marketing, Aaron Greenberg, had written off “Banjo-Kazooie” as an intellectual property at a recent event and said that nobody is interested in it. However, Greenberg has since clarified his comments.

On Twitter, Greenberg clarified that his previous remarks were meant as sarcasm and may have been misunderstood. He also expressed, “I fully understand the significance of Banjo-Kazooie to our fans and gamers worldwide.

Indeed, it remains uncertain if we’ll get a fresh installment of the beloved “Banjo” series in the near future. While some sources hint at a reboot being underway since it was reportedly given the go-ahead a few years back, others dispute these claims, stating that currently, no new “Banjo” game is being produced.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has consistently communicated that the company recognizes the demand for a revival, but he’s also emphasized that whether or not the Banjo IP will reappear depends on Rare, the team responsible for it.

Indeed, I’m well aware of the deep affection that Banjo-Kazooie holds for our fanbase and gaming enthusiasts worldwide. This series has a unique spot in my heart, as it was part of my cherished childhood memories while playing these timeless games. 💖🦜🎷💖
