Sharon D Clarke thinks Doctor Who missed a trick killing off Grace

As a film enthusiast with a rich tapestry of experiences under my belt, I must say that Sharon D Clarke is an absolute gem in the world of British television. From her captivating performances as Grace O’Brien in Doctor Who to her stellar role as Lola Griffin in Holby City, she has consistently demonstrated her exceptional talent and versatility.

Sharon D Clarke has openly stated that the character Grace O’Brien from season 11 of Doctor Who could have had more opportunities if she hadn’t been killed off.

During an interview with TopMob magazine, Clarke expressed her disbelief that her character’s story had concluded.

She added: “It struck me as quite remarkable when I said, ‘Folks, you’ve overlooked an opportunity!’ The TARDIS hosting various generations of women – a Black woman, a white woman, and a woman of brown heritage – was nothing short of magnificent.

It’s completely absurd that Jodie Whittaker faced criticism for becoming the first female Doctor. Remarkably, someone suggested that young boys would no longer have a role model to look up to! That’s just preposterous!

Currently, Ncuti Gatwa embodies an intriguing blend of charisma, humor, and a touch of mischief as the captivating, Black Doctor. We’re standing at the edge of time, in this moment, and it’s crucial that we continuously challenge and expand those boundaries.

In season 11, Clarke made appearances across multiple episodes. Later on, she returned to her character Grace in the season 12 episode titled “Can You Hear Me?” and also in the 2021 holiday special called “Revolution of the Daleks.

Certainly!

In this freshly unveiled three-part show, Ellis assumes the role of the principal detective in the title, stepping into various towns to aid ongoing investigations. However, not everyone welcomes him with warmth and acceptance.

In the upcoming series, Andrew Gower from Outlander is set to join Clarke, taking on the role of Clarke’s trusted deputy, DS Harper. Each installment will introduce a fresh ensemble of guest stars as we delve into a novel location and an intriguing mystery together.

As a devoted cinephile, I’d rephrase it like this: “In a chilling turn of events, the body of 18-year-old Rowan Edwards is discovered. With a heavy heart, I, DCI Ellis, am summoned by ACC Alison Leighton to delve into this grim mystery and unravel the puzzling circumstances surrounding this tragic death.

“Rowan’s girlfriend Maggie has not been seen since Rowan’s death, and they need results fast.

Rowan’s former MP mother expresses concerns about the abilities of the local police department, while the present lead detective on the investigation feels confident that he’s on the trail of the culprit, and isn’t pleased to be reassigned from the case.

“He assigns DS Chet Harper [Gower] to keep an eye on Ellis, not trusting her at all. Ellis starts to dig under the surface of the town, and soon sees that in Hanmore, parents know nothing about the lives of their children.”

But that’s not all – Clarke is also currently on our screens in BBC One’s Mr Loverman, and is also taking to the stage once again in the National Theatre production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

In a recent chat on The One Show, Clarke praised her fellow actor and the Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, by stating: “He embodies pure charm and attractiveness.

“He’s an exceptionally kind and attractive man, both on the outside and inside. He has a great sense of humor as well.
