As a follower who has watched Autumn Oxley Crittendon grow and evolve on reality television, her untimely death leaves me deeply saddened and shocked. I remember her vibrant spirit, her unwavering love for her children, and the strong bond she shared with her sister Misty.
Autumn Oxley Crittendon’s cause of death has been determined.
Autumn, a former star on the show “16 and Pregnant“, passed away in Henrico County, Virginia, on July 20th. According to the Virginia Department of Health and reports from TMZ, her death was caused by an overdose of fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl, which are illicit synthetic opioids. Her death has been classified as accidental.
A significant number of illicit synthetic opioids, known for their powerful pain-reducing abilities, are stronger than both morphine and heroin, as stated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Consequently, these substances carry a higher risk of overdose.
In the year 2014, during MTV’s fifth season, Autumn (alongside her then-partner Dustin Franklin) made an appearance prior to the birth of their son Drake, who is now 10 years old. Tragically, she was discovered unconscious in her home located in Virginia back in July.
At the location, law enforcement officers and firefighters found an unconscious adult woman inside the house, according to a statement by the Henrico County Police Division to TopMob News. Attempts to revive her made by members of the Henrico Fire Department were unsuccessful. Sadly, Autumn Oxley, aged 27, a resident of Henrico, was declared dead at the scene.
Following Autumn’s passing, her sister, Misty Crittendon, paid tribute on Facebook, referring to Autumn as “the beautiful infant sibling I was blessed with.
She penned in her post: ‘I’ll make sure your memory never fades away… FOREVER.’ Throughout our lives, I’ve fought for you, and I promise to keep doing so until we meet again. Rest assured, I will not let you forget us, nor the babies. You are forever with me.
In July, Misty also initiated a GoFundMe campaign for Autumn – a woman who identifies herself on Facebook as “a mother of two boys Drake and Luke, and a lovely girl Abigail.” She described her family’s day of loss as the day “our world shattered.
“Misty penned that she was a cherished mom, child, and sibling who can never be erased from our memories.” She admitted it was far beyond shocking. The pain, indeed, has been unbearable and remains so.
On October 21, the very day we learned about Autumn’s tragic demise, I took the opportunity to update my Facebook profile picture. It now features a cherished snapshot of us, both of us lifting our little ones high, reminiscing about the extraordinary bond we shared.
Together, we accomplished everything, including motherhood,” Misty reminisced. “Subsequently, we nurtured our children as one, and they too grew up sharing experiences. Oh, how dearly we miss you! My love for you transcends any prior understanding.
