What you need to know

  • Diablo 4 is holding a limited time event from October 29 to November 5 called ‘Meat or Treat’
  • There are a bunch of cosmetics to claim for free by logging in each day and checking the Diablo 4 shop.
  • There’s also a ‘Vases of Hatred’ promotion running specifically for US residents only consisting physical and virtual gifts to send to your closest ‘frenemy’.

As someone who has been following the gaming world for quite some time now, I must say that Diablo 4 never fails to surprise me with their creative events and promotions. The ‘Meat or Treat’ event is no exception! It’s not often you see a game company embracing such a quirky name for an in-game event, but Diablo 4 does it with panache.

The Halloween spirit is definitely in the air now, and it seems like someone from the Diablo team has a playful side (or maybe I just have a poor sense of humor). The announcement for Diablo 4 has unveiled an event called ‘Meat or Treat’ (yes, you read that right), which isn’t your boyfriend’s next pickup line but rather an opportunity to collect some free items by logging into the game between October 29 and November 1, Pacific Time.

From October 29th through November 1st, log in every day to receive a free gift from the store. This special offer is available for a limited time!

  • October 29: The Recluse’s Host Mount
  • October 30: Ichorflame Torch Mount Trophy
  • October 31: Recluse’s Flask Mount Trophy
  • November 1: Reclusive Trappings Mount Armor

Don’t fret if you forget to log in! You can still get all the gifts by signing in before November 5, 12 p.m PT. After that time, these items will be removed from the store permanently.

Meat or Treat?

At the event, a Shrine might turn red in any dungeon, indicating that interacting with it will trigger the Meat or Treat antics. This Shrine could surprise you by affecting your dungeon, whether it’s beneficial or something you’ll later wish you hadn’t touched. Currently, we don’t know what effects it may have, but it might shower you with gold or rare Mythic Uniques that, for amusement, are uncollectable. I’m excited to see the unexpected twists and turns Blizzard will create with this feature!

Vases of Hatred

In other Diablo 4 news, the Vases of Hatred event kicks off today and runs through November 4, but it’s only available for U.S. residents. If you happen to live in Los Angeles or New York City, you can send a special Diablo 4-themed gift — a bouquet of toxic flowers, symbolizing “Hatred” — to your most despised foe. Yes, seriously. They’ve even created a website for it: VasesOfHatred.com, where you can send one of these cursed arrangements while supplies last.

For those outside NYC and LA, you can still participate by sending a digital card instead. But, if you really want to get creative with your revenge and have your enemy’s email, you could always sign them up for a deluge of car insurance spam — just a thought!

Anyone who sends either a physical or virtual Vase of Hatred will receive a Little Lady Mount bundle in-game, and this can be claimed after November 5.
