Top Gun: Maverick flight instructor Chuck Coleman dies in plane crash

As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a penchant for behind-the-scenes tales, I must say the loss of Chuck Coleman is deeply saddening. His contributions to Top Gun: Maverick, particularly his role as flight instructor and the countless hours he spent preparing the actors for their Navy F-18 Hornet flights, were nothing short of instrumental.

Actor Miles Teller recently honored the memory of Chuck Coleman, the flight instructor for Top Gun: Maverick, who tragically passed away in an airplane accident this past weekend.

Throughout his professional journey, Coleman served as a pilot, designer, and flight tester. Over time, he contributed to various companies such as McDonnell Aviation Corporation, Bede Aircraft Corporation, and Scaled Composite Solutions.

Farewell, Chuck Coleman. He served as our aerobatic flight trainer and played a significant role in our readiness for Top Gun: Maverick,” Teller expressed on X. “Beyond being an aerospace engineer and performer at air shows and tests, he was also our friend and partner.

He went on saying, “Chuck possessed an effortless charm that made us feel at ease, knowing his knowledge was available whenever needed. He was not only kind and modest but also had a keen interest in people and the world around us.

“Gone too soon but his contributions will live on forever. Thanks for the memories, Chuck.”

Teller posted a collection of pictures from when he was filming, which also featured a snap they both took as a selfie.
