As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming history under my belt, I must admit that Microsoft’s recent moves have been nothing short of intriguing. Growing up, I was the kid who religiously waited for Xbox exclusives to grace our family console. But times change, and so does the gaming industry.
As a passionate gamer, I’ve been thrilled by Microsoft’s move this year, unleashing Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded on various platforms, including competitors. What’s even more exciting is the announcement that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be gracing PlayStation 5 next Spring, hot on the heels of its December release for PC and Xbox. And let me tell you, this isn’t the end of it!
Previously, it was suggested that the company plans to make most of its video games available on competing systems, and Microsoft has given indications that this is indeed their plan. In a recent shareholders’ annual letter, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed this, stating explicitly that the company will continue developing and releasing games for PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.
In a recent post, Nadella stated that we’ve introduced four beloved games on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation for the very first time, as part of our ongoing mission to make our content available across various systems.
There’s been plenty of speculation about first-party Xbox games potentially coming to the PlayStation 5, and whispers suggest that a remake of the classic game “Halo: Combat Evolved” might be in the works for the PlayStation console as well.
