In a private conversation with TopMob News, the actress shared that Will and Rider are simply exceptional friends. Since Will resides nearby, they frequently look after me. This includes regularly checking up on me and even offering to pick up groceries on our behalf.
Indeed, Danielle, who co-hosts the “Pod Meets World” podcast alongside her two colleagues, shared that she was greeted with warm greetings from friends spanning various parts of the globe.
She added, “It’s common knowledge that I have a sweet tooth. As a result, folks would send me cookies or even whole care packages. We received blankets too. Remarkably, cancer survivors who reached out to me offered various items they thought we might need. They shared links for supportive bras and other useful items – it was all incredibly thoughtful.

As a passionate admirer, I’d like to share that his wife, who is deeply engaged with a nonprofit organization, offered me invaluable assistance. He mentioned, “If there’s any way we can help, by connecting you to medical professionals for any questions you might have,” and this gesture truly resonated with me.
Danielle expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of affection that came her way, stating it was both profound and heartwarming. She was the first to share her news with Will and Rider, who were among the very first individuals, aside from her family, to learn about it.
Danielle received the news about her stage zero breast cancer during a swim lesson for her 5-year-old boy Adler and her 3-year-old boy Keaton in July.
She remembered that her phone rang, revealing a call from her doctor. In that moment, she thought, “This is the news I’ve been waiting for.” So, she picked up the phone, and the doctor asked if I was alone. At that instant, when she inquired about my solitude, I had a sense that I wasn’t going to hear, “It’s benign!” instead.
So, Danielle told her doctor to “just give it to me straight.”
The Girl Meets World alum relayed, “She communicated that information to me, to which I responded, ‘Could you send that to me via text?’ Because she said, ‘You have ductal carcinoma in situ with possible microinvasion, high grade.’ At first, I couldn’t fully comprehend it all. So, I need to receive the text, then Google it, and subsequently carry out some research.
Following a few long, deliberate breaths, Danielle started contemplating the best way to share the news with her spouse, Jensen Karp.
She recalled that after the children were asleep that night, she informed him because he had broached the subject earlier. He asked, “So no progress then?” To which she responded, “On the contrary, I do have the results, and unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with cancer.” It was a heavy blow. His parents had both succumbed to cancer, making this news particularly difficult for him.
A challenging time arose when she found herself needing to share her diagnosis with her parents. She hadn’t disclosed her abnormal mammogram results before because she thought it was insignificant, but once she was diagnosed with cancer, she felt compelled to inform them. The most difficult aspect was anticipating and dealing with the emotions of those around her.
In my own words, I confess that hearing my parents weep was incredibly challenging. It’s a difficult ordeal, and it truly gives me a sense of fulfillment knowing I can inspire others to persevere through similar situations. Not everyone is as fortunate as I am to detect cancer at an early stage.
In August, Danielle underwent a lumpectomy to take out a growth. However, when the sample was examined, her doctors were not satisfied because there was still one border they weren’t happy with. Consequently, she had another surgery the following month.
Danielle shared with TopMob News that her treatment isn’t complete yet, as she is still deliberating about radiation therapy. She mentioned various options such as whole breast radiation, targeted radiation, combination therapy, or even choosing not to have it. Moreover, she expressed plans to start hormone therapy, specifically an estrogen blocker, since her cancer was estrogen-receptive and relied on estrogen for growth.
Moving forward on her trip, Danielle is teaming up with Aflac during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month to champion preventative healthcare and encourage individuals to book their regular check-ups.
According to the Aflac Wellness Survey, three out of four individuals express deep gratitude towards friends or family members who motivate them to undergo tests. In essence, I am one such person urging you: if there’s a chance you might have cancer, which no one desires to hear about, it’s far better to discover it at the earliest stage, namely stage zero, rather than later.
