As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours watching WWE matches and relishing in their dramatic storylines, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when two iconic figures like Randy Orton and Triple H square off. Their history together is as rich and complex as the plots in my favorite RPGs, with each move they make adding another layer to their epic saga.

To begin, WWE SmackDown commenced with a significant statement as Randy Orton entered the ring, though he had some conflicts with Kevin Owens, it wasn’t him that Orton addressed. Instead, Orton summoned Triple H, and they engaged in a heated exchange, with Orton accusing Triple H of shielding one of his favorites. Triple H refuted this claim, stating that he had been denying the match against Owens to safeguard Orton from potential injury, and he took another dig at Orton as he described Owens’ current volatile state. Eventually, Orton managed to persuade Triple H, leading to the formalization of the match between Orton and Owens for Crown Jewel.

Time To Play The Game

Right away, Orton swiftly seized a microphone and summoned Triple H. This was following their discussion backstage before he made his entrance into the ring. Triple H responded promptly, stepping into the ring and addressing Orton, “Randy, I’d have rather avoided this public spectacle, but since you consistently struggle to arrive on time for work, a matter we can discuss further later, it seems we must address it now.

Orton conveyed to Triple H that it was widely understood that his refusal to approve the match was done to shield Owens, but Triple H disagreed with this notion. Orton then countered, “You have a fondness for him, I understand. He’s likeable, and I liked him too, H. Just own up to it.” However, Triple H made it clear when he retorted, “I am not shielding Kevin Owens. I am trying to safeguard you!

Triple H stated, “Ever since you first arrived, I’ve known you. Similarly, I’ve known Kevin Owens from the moment he stepped through these doors. When he entered, he wanted to be known as ‘the prizefighter.’ He chose that name because it was all about business for him. However, let me make it clear: in this line of work, Kevin Owens never truly had a friend.

Truly Betrayed

For the first time, he seemed to lose his usual vigilance. Maybe it was his faith in Cody Rhodes and myself that made him careless. I’m not sure if he sees the noble side of Cody Rhodes reflected in himself or perceives a part of himself he dislikes in me, but he trusted us both.

With deep regard, I want to discuss something important. You’ve been out for 18 months due to circumstances, but thankfully, you didn’t sustain any major injuries like tearing your ACL or dislocating your shoulder. However, you did undergo surgery with steel rods inserted, and were told there was a possibility that you might not wrestle again. Now that I’ve helped bring you back, I don’t want to see you sidelined again, possibly for good. Can you understand my concern?

Later, Orton invoked their previous conflicts. He said, “I didn’t invite Paul Levesque here. I wanted the mastermind assassin. The Game, the man who carried a sledgehammer wherever he went. The man who threw me out of my own dining room window and brutally attacked me on my front lawn. What would you do if you were in my situation? This isn’t me acting rashly. I’m speaking honestly, man to man. You understand what it feels like when everything is suddenly taken from you. If you were in my shoes, wouldn’t you take action instead of just letting it go? You would handle this as we always have, right here in the ring,” Orton asserted.

At last, Triple H conceded, stating, “I truly hope you understand the implications of your request. If you’re seeking Kevin Owens for Crown Jewel… well, consider it done. Randy, moving ahead, I strongly advise you to always be on guard.

At Crown Jewel, their erstwhile comrades will square off, but undeniably, we’ll also catch up with Owens before that time. What were your thoughts about the segment? Feel free to share your wrestling insights with me on Threads and Twitter @mattaguilarcb!
