The introduction of Knull in “Venom: The Last Dance” has opened up a tantalizing possibility for a epic crossover that could rival even the most memorable Marvel Cinematic Universe showdowns.

King in Black should be Sony’s Spider-Man Universe first event
Movies that belong to Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man Universe comprise the three movies featuring Venom, Morbius, Madame Web, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter. Besides the Venom films, they don’t constitute an impressive lineup of box office successes so far. These films do not include Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in any significant way, except for his identity being unveiled in the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which was previously revealed from Spider-Man: Far From Home.
As a fervent fan, I’d like to share some insights about the Spider-Man universe. Sony, being the rightful owner of the characters, has a partnership with Marvel Studios that allows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This is why you won’t find Morbius feasting on anyone’s neck alongside the Avengers, for instance. The MCU has demonstrated time and again that fans love intricately woven narratives. While not every project needs to link directly to the next, there should be an underlying feeling of a larger narrative at play. With Knull now introduced, it seems inevitable that we’ll witness the events of “King in Black,” and the groundwork for this epic saga could start in “Spider-Man 4.
Spider-Man 4 needs to build towards King in Black
Tom Holland has verified that filming for “Spider-Man 4” will commence in Summer 2025. A hint of the Venom symbiote was seen at the end of the post-credits scene in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” providing a smooth transition for Peter Parker to wear the black-and-white symbiote suit in his next film. Since Spider-Man’s identity is once more hidden, crafting an engaging tale centered around Spidey grappling with the burden of the symbiote costume could make for an excellent plotline for his upcoming movie.
