In this year’s rendition of “Zombies,” players can acquire an intriguing weapon known as the “Beamsmasher” in Terminus, and this tutorial will guide you through one challenging step towards unlocking it!
Laptop Locations & Computer Code Math Puzzle Solution | Terminus Beamsmasher
During your quest to find the elusive Beamsmasher, you’ll eventually need to locate three distinct laptops scattered across the map. Once found, these devices will help solve a puzzle that brings you one step nearer to uncovering the powerful artifact you seek.
In the subsequent parts, we’ll offer an image for every location on the map, along with directions from certain areas within Terminus. This will provide additional landmarks to help navigate. Feel free to tackle these tasks in any sequence you find convenient.
Laptop #1 (Z) – Outside Communications
As a fan, you’d navigate from the Control Center towards the doorway situated southward. This journey takes you back outdoors, bringing you to a location known as the Communications sector on the map.
Directly face your right side now, and you’ll spot a laptop marked “Z” near the railing. Interact with this laptop, then proceed to the next one once it shows an image. The symbols on each laptop will become important later, but there’s no need to remember them for now.
Laptop #2 (Y) – At the Storage Area
In the following, marked as “Y“, is situated to the west of the location you’ve been at. Continue moving counterclockwise on the map until you reach the “Storage Area“.
At the Storage Area, climb the stairs heading northward, and examine the area just beyond the balcony adjacent to the location marked as ‘Door Buys’ on the map. You will find the next laptop there, visible once more, seated openly near some railings.
Laptop #3 (X) – Docks Under Sea Tower
This one is quite simple to navigate; simply follow the path from the dock, which is near the water’s edge. Ascend the stairs heading northwest that are located nearby. Once you’ve reached the top of the stairs, turn right and you’ll find the next laptop conveniently situated on your right side.
Sea Tower Briefcase
If you haven’t been there yet, make your way towards the tower that stands over the docks. At the southern end of the room, you’ll spot a desk. Upon this desk, there is a briefcase. Open the briefcase to retrieve the Multiphasic Resonator, an item essential for solving the puzzle in the upcoming section.
Solving The Math Problem
Once you’ve powered up all three computers, make your way back to the Research Office situated outside the Living Quarters. Over there, you’ll find a peculiar computer on your right. On the screen, some sticky notes will pop up.
The puzzle here will be different for everyone. Basically, you need to solve the three equations on the right whiteboard in the corner of the room. To do this, you will first need to figure out the values of X, Y, and Z.
To determine the value of each letter, simply look at the positions they occupy on the whiteboard on your left, as indicated by the symbols on the sticky notes (which were displayed earlier on each laptop). Since a visual aid can be helpful in explaining this step, please refer to the image below for additional understanding.
In the diagram, the values along the vertical axis from 0 to 2 will represent the initial section of each data point, while the numbers stretching horizontally across (the X-axis) constitute the secondary section. For instance, in the sample image provided, the symbol’s alignment on the board indicates that “X” corresponds to “20” (in row 2, column 0), and this pattern continues accordingly.
After this, let’s apply these figures to find the solutions for the equations written on the board over there, which is quite elementary. To speed things up and save you effort, consider using a calculator instead.
On the board to your right, it appears that the equations displayed are consistent across all individuals. Thus, when working on the problems provided, make sure to utilize the numbers randomly generated for your specific situation.
- Equation #1: 2x + 11
- Equation #2: (2z + y) – 5
- Equation #3: | (y + z) – x |
In accordance with the pattern presented earlier, the solutions will be structured as follows when you input the values for each letter:
- #1: 2(20) + 11 = 51
- #2: (2(22) + 11) – 5 = 50
- #3: | (11 + 22) – 20 | = 13
Once you’ve completed your calculations, please type in the solutions from left to right on the computer. If you’re correct, the machine will initiate a search for the location necessary to proceed with the next stage of the Beamsmasher mission!
Alternative: Skip the Math
If you don’t want to do any of the math, you can go to Dr. Peck over at the Guard Station. If you approach his window, you will get the option to bribe him for the calibrator code. This will cost you 5,000 essence.
Choosing this path means bypassing the entire math puzzle since the appropriate code will be shown next to Dr. Peck on the screen. All you need to do then is enter that code at the Research Office. It’s an expensive choice, but it can significantly cut down your time if you can manage the cost!
