As an old-school Dragon Ball fan who’s been riding this rollercoaster since the days of Frieza and Cell, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation as we delve deeper into the enigmatic Demon Realm with Goku and his pals in Dragon Ball Daima. The series has always hinted at the demonic realm and its denizens, but never quite dove in so deeply – and that’s exactly what this new arc promises.
Dragon Ball Daima has now ventured into the Demon Realm for the first time in its latest series, hinting at the immense size of this new location as Goku and the Supreme Kai embark on their fresh adventure. In earlier episodes, Dragon Ball Daima has been reminding fans of their beloved characters after a long absence, only to find each one transformed into children due to the wish made by Supreme Demon King Gomah using the Dragon Balls. With Baby Dende held captive, Goku and the Supreme Kai have traveled to this new realm.
As a devoted Dragon Ball fan, I’ve always been intrigued by the hints of demons and the Demon Realm in the franchise’s history. However, we’ve never delved deep into this unexplored territory until now, with Dragon Ball Daima. This new foray into the Demon Realm is not only uncharted but also presents a complex tapestry for us fans.
There are Three Demon Worlds
In the latest installment of Dragon Ball Daima, we delve deeper into the mechanics of the Demon Realm. While the initial episode showed us how Gomah and Degesu could cross over to our world, this time around, we learn that to actually make such a journey, one requires multiple approvals. You need a specific code, access through certain portals, and can only visit places authorized by someone of higher rank in the system. The storyline takes an intriguing turn as it introduces three primary worlds within this realm.
It’s come to light that there are three distinct realms inside the Demon Realm, and access between them is limited except for those authorized and equipped with transportation means. This recent requirement for authorization has left the Supreme Kai bewildered, as he was unaware of the need for a passcode to enter and discovered that he couldn’t directly reach the First Demon World where Gomah resides. Instead, he must navigate through the Third Demon World first. It appears that these realms within the Demon Realm have become more isolated from each other than they once were, which could be due to events that transpired in the past.
Why Are the Demon Worlds Kept Separated?
Each of the Demon Worlds has yet to be fully revealed, but it’s clear that the Third Demon World is much different than the other two. The Supreme Kai’s race, the Glind, are teased to have belonged to the Second Demon World and apparently are very high on themselves. This stuck up attitude seems to reflect the fact that they are in the Second Demon World, and likely further emphasizes a class divide that comes from each of these worlds being kept so apart from one another.
A mysterious passageway, known as the Demon Tunnel, serves as a barrier separating various realms. This tunnel allows access to the First and Second Demon Worlds, but according to the Supreme Kai, in the past demons could freely move between these realms. However, during his youth, a barrier of light was erected over the tunnel to prevent demons from passing through it. Now, the only way to travel between these worlds is through the Warp gates and their authorization, suggesting that perhaps a former Demon King made this restriction.
As we delve deeper into the history of the ancient Demon Kings, we’ll uncover clues about how the Demon Realm came to be as it is today. The realms division seems to serve a purpose, and perhaps Goku can unravel this mystery behind its rationale.
