Inside the BBC’s Asia with David Attenborough: The epic moments you can’t miss

As a seasoned cinematic voyager with decades of exploration under my belt, I can confidently assert that David Attenborough‘s latest natural history series on Asia is nothing short of a breathtaking odyssey through the heart of our planet.

In his introduction to his renowned natural history series, David Attenborough notes that among all the wondrous locations globally, no place surpasses Asia in terms of its wealth.

A large portion, approximately one-third, of our planet’s landmass is occupied by it. To the south, you’ll find expansive forests, while to the north, there stretches a huge expanse of frozen wilderness.

A significant portion of this continent is covered by deserts and houses the world’s tallest mountains. Bordering it are some of the wealthiest oceans globally. Moreover, this region is the most densely populated spot on Earth, with wildlife coexisting harmoniously with humans in truly extraordinary ways.

Although most of David Attenborough’s work for the series was done at home, for his introduction, we captured him in the Natural History Museum instead. (Matthew Wright, series producer)

“Which of course is a cathedral to natural history. Having David there just felt right.”

Wright mentions: “Currently, although David holds a deep interest in Asia and has visited it since the 1950s with Zoo Quest, he records his commentary from home, which he has specially prepared with a dedicated room.

During our recording sessions, regardless of who the narrator is, we always prepare a guide for pronunciation. However, David politely declines using it because he’s traveled extensively and encountered many animals similar to those we cover. Consequently, his voice delivers these words with accuracy from the get-go.

Attenborough suggests that if you believe you’ve witnessed the finest natural wonders, consider it reconsidered. The Earth holds an abundance of unheard tales yet to be discovered.
