As a diehard fan of the gritty, action-packed world of Marvel Comics, I am beyond excited for the upcoming series “Deadpool/Wolverine“! Having grown up on ’80s action classics like Commando and Rambo: First Blood Part II, this new ongoing series promises to deliver non-stop thrills, insane action set-pieces, and a dynamic between the two characters that feels both adversarial and bro-mancey.
The Weapon X program transformed Wade Wilson and Logan into lethal weapons, but in the Marvel Studios blockbuster and the eight-part series “Deadpool/Wolverine: Weapon X-Traction” this summer, they became each other’s best friends. Now, Marvel Comics is bringing back the unconventional duo in a new ongoing series called “Deadpool/Wolverine” written by Benjamin Percy (X-Force) and illustrated by Joshua Cassera (X-Men).
Instead of being just as brutal as the underworld, the Marvel film featuring Deadpool or Wolverine draws inspiration from the R-rated ’80s action flicks like “Commando” and “Rambo: First Blood Part II”.
As for the atmosphere we’re aiming for in this game, Josh, Mark Basso, and I concurred on an unrelenting rush of excitement, mind-boggling action sequences reminiscent of the 80s action movie era, and a wild, over-the-top feel that could make even Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Jean-Claude Van Damme feel right at home as potential guest stars in our issues.

Marvel has revealed a sneak peek of the debut issue for your perusal, and it’s shown here below. The highly anticipated comic book series, Deadpool/Wolverine #1, will be available for purchase starting January 1, 2025, from Marvel Comics.
