As a dedicated follower and long-time viewer of Asmongold, I must say, I’ve been through quite a rollercoaster of emotions these past few weeks. From his engaging gameplay streams to his thoughtful discussions on various topics, he has always been an entertainer who never shied away from expressing his opinions, even when they were unpopular or controversial.
Streamer Zack Hoyt, better known as Asmongold, is gearing up for his comeback on Twitch soon, as per a recent update from the streamer himself. Earlier this month, on the 15th, Asmongold was temporarily suspended from Twitch due to a contentious live stream involving comments about the Israel-Hamas conflict. During this stream, Asmongold made remarks that some found offensive, labeling Palestinians as “troublesome individuals” who belong to a culture that is inferior and problematic.
Although Asmongold ranks highly among popular streamers on Twitch, the platform swiftly imposed a ban on him due to his widely discussed and contentious video clips. However, this ban wasn’t long-term; a recent update from Asmongold on platform X suggests that it has been lifted.
As per the streamer’s statement, he expects to be reinstated tomorrow. It remains uncertain if he will start streaming immediately post-ban, but he has confirmed his intention to stream Dragon Age: The Veilguard upon its release this week, specifically on October 31st.
After making two heartfelt apologies, Asmongold returned to Twitch, expressing remorse for his past comments and acknowledging that he’s been struggling mentally.
In his initial tweet, the streamer admitted and apologized for his harsh stance on the Palestine issue in the past. He acknowledged that no one deserves to be treated poorly or have their life destroyed, regardless of views he may find regressive. He promised to be more thoughtful and considerate in the future.
Initially, an apology was made, which was later replaced by a more comprehensive one through his personal YouTube account. In this new apology, he strongly condemned the harsh, cruel, and disrespectful words he had used.
The outcome of this latest dispute may influence the streamer’s current standing among viewers. Prior to the ban, he was a top contender on the platform, ranking as its third most prominent streamer. This high position can be attributed in part to his almost three million subscribers on YouTube.
Currently, I haven’t received any official word from Twitch regarding Asmongold’s return yet. However, based on several factors, it seems unlikely that this situation may change. But rest assured, if there’s any news about it, I’ll make sure to keep you updated!
