As a dedicated Call of Duty player with countless hours spent in multiplayer battles and Battle Royale skirmishes, I can confidently say that the addition of the recoil test wall and adjustable target dummy in Black Ops 6’s Firing Range is nothing short of a game-changer. These seemingly minor features have transformed my experience, providing an unprecedented level of control and precision in weapon customization.

Refining the ultimate weapon is a crucial aspect of the online Call of Duty adventure. Each year introduces fresh possibilities to experiment with, often leading our thumbs to exhaustion, as we chase after legendary loadout configurations to make dominating public match lobbies slightly less grueling. This applies to both Multiplayer and the annual version of Warzone.

The firing range serves as the central workspace for all the game-making activities. Here, players can construct, modify, and trial their creations in one convenient location by testing each new build against multiple target zones. It’s a relatively basic setup compared to other games in the series (like Call of Duty: World War 2‘s headquarters), but Treyarch has implemented two straightforward enhancements to streamline the process for all the ingenious gunsmiths out there.

Incorporating a recoil test wall and an adjustable target dummy could significantly enhance the gaming experience for Warzone players. With long-range gunfights being frequent on maps like Urzikstan, these features will help players prepare for various encounters such as rooftop battles, building skirmishes, or any other close-quarter combat situations demanding precision. Knowing your primary weapon’s performance in different conditions can provide confidence during intense firefights.

Now, players no longer have to worry about their weapons only being effective up close against heavily armored foes. Instead, they can experiment with different ranges and observe the distinct recoil pattern, which was not possible before. This small change might seem insignificant, but it provides players with a greater degree of control over their weapons, making the gameplay experience significantly more immersive.

To try out these features, simply move them into the Shooting Range, pick your firearm(s) of choice, and press on the control pad in a lower position. This action will cause the recoil indicator to descend, while another quick press will free up the adjustable target. The recoil indicator is positioned roughly seven meters away from the player and starts as a blank slate. Every bullet that’s fired leaves a discernible mark, making it clear how a gun’s spread compares to others in its class. Pressing the control pad down or selecting a new setup will completely erase the indicator, preparing it for additional testing.

Regarding the moving target, it varies slightly. Once destroyed, you can position the decoy precisely by firing at it until it’s broken. It can be located at three distinct distances: the shortest is similar to the recoil wall, approximately 7 meters away; the middle distance is around 15 meters, which falls between the solitary dummies placed at 10 and 25 meters; lastly, the farthest option resides roughly at 75 meters, nearing the end of the range.

As a gamer, I can’t wait to jump into Black Ops 6! With the addition of Omnimovement, a revamped Treyarch campaign that harks back to the classics, and an explosive Zombies mode that’s been tearing up the charts, there’s no shortage of reasons to gear up and get acquainted with what’s in store. And let’s not forget, Warzone will be joining forces with the game when Season 1 kicks off later this year!
