Queer – TRAILER

As a cinephile who has spent countless nights lost in the enchanting world of cinema, I must say that the trailer for “Queer” has piqued my interest significantly. The fact that Daniel Craig is stepping away from his iconic role as James Bond to explore a more intimate and introspective character intrigues me. Add to that the masterful direction of Luca Guadagnino, whose work I have always admired, and you have a recipe for a potentially captivating film experience.

The trailer for “Queer,” featuring Daniel Craig in an unprecedented role, strays significantly from his iconic character James Bond. This intriguing production is overseen by the esteemed Academy Award-nominated director, Luca Guadagnino.

1950. William Lee, an American living in Mexico City, typically spends his days in solitude, interacting only occasionally with other members of the small American community. However, when he meets Eugene Allerton, a new expat and former soldier, for the first time, there’s a glimmer of hope that he might find a deeper connection with someone.

As a cinephile, I’m excited to share that this upcoming movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, the Academy Award-nominated Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, Omar Apollo, Andra Ursuta, Andres Duprat, Ariel Shulman, Drew Droege, Michael Borremans, David Lowery, Lisandro Alonso, and Colin Bates. Quite a star-studded lineup!

The film titled “Queer” is crafted by Justin Kuritzkes (also the director of “Challengers,” co-directed by Luca Guadagnino) and features music from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, stunning cinematography by Sayombhu Mukdeeprom (from “Suspiria”), editing by Marco Costa (of “Bones and All”), and costume design by J.W. Anderson (also credited for “Challengers”).

The movie titled “Queer” made its US debut in the Spotlight Gala section at the New York Film Festival on a certain date in 2024, and it also had its UK premiere as a Special Presentation at the BFI London Film Festival on October 17, 2024. Various articles discussing this film’s screening at the 2024 Venice Film Festival (such as Jada Yuan’s article in the Washington Post and Kyle Buchanan’s piece about Daniel Craig in the New York Times) mentioned that there were frequent and audible expressions of disapproval from certain male audience members whenever there was a love scene between two men. It’s hard to say what these viewers were anticipating from a film with such a name.

Queer will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 13th December 2024.
