As a lifelong Dragon Ball fan who’s seen every episode, movie, and spin-off series under the sun, I can’t help but see the connections between Dragon Ball Daima and its predecessor, Dragon Ball GT. The similarities are like Goku’s Spirit Bomb – they pack a powerful punch!

Since the unveiling of the plot in “Dragon Ball Daima,” viewers have often found themselves reminiscing about another iconic series within the shonen franchise’s history. Although Dragon Ball GT is not considered canonical, it did present a narrative where Son Goku underwent a transformation to become a miniature version of himself. Interestingly, as Dragon Ball Daima was crafted by series creator Akira Toriyama, fans have noticed several elements that they believe are subtle tributes to the Grand Tour. One such example can be seen in episode three, where Goku, Glorio, and Makaioshin venture into the Demon Realm for the first time.

Heads up! If you haven’t seen the latest episode of Dragon Ball Daima yet, brace yourself as we delve into spoiler territory for this exciting shonen sequel series. In the third installment of Dragon Ball Daima, our beloved Z-Fighters are grappling with their newly transformed bodies. Following the events of the first two episodes where the new Demon Realm king Gomah used Earth’s Dragon Balls to turn our heroes and friends into first graders, courtesy of Goku and friends, they struggle to understand the situation. A significant boost comes their way when a new character, Glorio from the Demon Realm, extends them a ride. This ride might seem familiar to long-time franchise fans, as it echoes the Capsule Corps’ history.

Dragon Ball Daima’s Grand Tour

In addition to embarking on a space voyage in search of the Black Star Dragon Balls within the third episode of the Grand Tour, Goku and his companions from Dragon Ball GT do so. Furthermore, some viewers have noted that Glorio’s ship bears a resemblance to the Capsule Corps vehicle used by the Z-Fighters in the series that initially showcased Super Saiyan 4. As the Z-Fighters venture into the Demon Realm, it will be intriguing to observe if any more references to GT are included.

In a parallel to the ending of Dragon Ball GT Episode 3, the spaceship belonging to Gohan (Glorio) gets pilfered in Daima Episode 3, just like how their spacecraft is snatched on Planet Imecka at the end of that episode.

Dragon Ball Daima Transformations

Fans of anime are curious if they’ll witness fresh transformations in “Dragon Ball Daima”, apart from the mini-forms that have already been introduced. A notable feature of Grand Tour is the debut of Super Saiyan 4, a form assumed by Goku and Vegeta in the side story where both Saiyans adopted more primitive appearances. Although Dragon Ball GT concluded, Super Saiyan 4 has persisted beyond its sequel series, surfacing in “Super Dragon Ball Heroes” and more recently in the widely-played game “Dragon Ball Sparking Zero”.

The storyline of “Dragon Ball Daima” unfolds after the demise of Kid Buu, preceding the commencement of “Dragon Ball Super.” Therefore, elements such as Super Saiyan Blue and Ultra Instinct may not feature in this series. If a new transformation emerges that mirrors Super Saiyan 4, it could lend support to the theory that Toriyama had one more innovative twist for his interpretation of the Grand Tour up his sleeve. Given the popularity of the original transformation over time, it would be intriguing to observe if Toriyama would introduce any alterations to the form to offer a fresh take on Super Saiyan 4.
